Job Description

With supprt from and in collaboration with the M&E advisor, the Data Management Officer is responsible to design and develop a project data base and assure implementation of a consistent monitoring and evaluation system, generation of quality data, and regular maintainence of the project database.

  Specific Functions and Responsibilities 

  • design of data collection and monitoring tools for the project based on the project priority data needs and establish a database for data collection, export and analysis (such as REDCap or similar platform)
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of project database, providing on-line access to data as appropriate and linking-integrating data between regions, Ethiopia office and Emory Atlanta office
  • ensure that data on programmatic indicators within the regions are properly collected, compiled, analysed, cleaned and shared/disseminated
  • Actively participate in the creation, design, quality assurance and analysis of baseline, midline and end line surveys.
  • under the direction of the M & E advisor facilitate and support all operational research
  • Responsible for the recording, collection, compilation, analysis and production of routine data from all sources (facility and community) to an appropriate standard
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and contribute to writing technical reports at the regional level

Job Requirement

  • Master’s degree in medical informatics/public health/Epidemiology and statistics/demography or other related social science fields;
  • At least one-year work experience in research, monitoring, evaluation, data collection and/or data analysis
  • Computer proficiency in 1) MS Office applications 2) in statistical software (such as STATA, SPSS, Epi info or other similar analysis software) and 3) data collection tools (such as REDCap) required;
  • Evidence of skills in developing data collection instruments; database management, data analysis,
  • Strong work ethic, strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Level of Travel: traveling regularly to the regional offices and field sites

Duty station:   in Addis Ababa
