Job Description
The Regional Technical Advisor will provide a technical assistance and for the oversight of the overall planning and coordination of the MNCH and QI activities with a focus on achieving the project’s objectives/results. S/he will be responsible for the technical support, capacity building in MNCH and QI, and mentoring of the regional BEmONC/NICU Coordinators, Zonal and woreda MNCH, officers based in the project zones of each region.
Specific Functions and Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the RHB and Unicef regional office, provide overall technical leadership and strategic direction in all aspects of project implementation, and quality assurance
- ensure that the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all activities are in accordance with Emory and donor standards and
- Facilitate and document lessons learned and best practices of the project
- Coordinate implementation with RHB, ZHD, WorHOs, Unicef regional office
- Coordinate/support the implementation of the MNCH and QI activities by the project officers in each project woredas
- Assist in the design and supports implementation of community-mobilization strategies, coordinate and facilitate review meetings, provide support to the project officers through regular on onsite coaching and mentoring;
- Integrates new knowledge into on-going program activities and disseminate new knowledge to project staff and partner organizations;
- Responsible for documentation, and writes regular MNH and QI project technical reports, and contribute to the project’s annual report;
Job Requirement
- Specialist in public health (MPH), MSc in nursing and/or other related field
- Minimum of 5 years directly related work experience, particularly in MNCH program implementation at facility and community level.
- Training in maternal, neonatal and child health including, but not limited to iCMNCI, IMNCI, BEmONC, NICU and Quality Improvement.
- Previous experience in implementing program in the area of MNCH health programs;
- Experience in organizing and conducting trainings on MNCH, BEmONC, NICU, QI and mentoring;
- Good communication skill (both verbal and written) in English. Knowledge of local language is advantageous;

Level of Travel: with frequent travel to project sites with in the assigned region
Duty station: Afar and Benishangul Gumuz regional office
