Program Overview

Her Future, Her Choice is a four-year GAC (Global Affairs Canada) funded and Oxfam Canada led SRH Multi-country project to be implemented in Ethiopia, Malawi and Zambia aimed at creating access to comprehensive SRH information and services for Adolescent Girls and young women in a gender responsive and youth-friendly manner. In Ethiopia, the project will be implemented by Pathfinder International and Women Support Association in two woredas of Amhara region (Seqota and its surrounding).

Position

Under the direct guidance and close supervision of the AYSRH Program Officer and in line with the “ Her Future, Her Choice” project implementation guideline, the AYSRH Program Assistant is principally responsible for the implementation of all SRH financial and logistic related activities of the project in a gender responsive and youth-friendly manner. S/he is the focal person for proper utilization and implementation of all project related resources including : its finance, logistic and other fixed assets both in the project office and throughout the project implementation sites and in line with Pathfinder’s organizational policy and principle. The AYSRH Program Assistant will also fully engage in the joint planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project activities along with the AYSRH Program Officer towards the fulfillment of comprehensive SRH information and services for Adolescent Girls and young women

Key Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the AYSRH Program Officer, organizes, plans, and ensures the availability of the material and financial requirements of the project as per the annual, quarter, and monthly plan of the project for its proper implementation.
  • Assists the AYSRH Program Officer in the development of annual plans and budgets that will lead to appropriate implementation of the ‘Her Future Her Choice’ project in target woredas of Amhara region.
  • Assists the AYSRH Program Officer to smoothly plan, organize and conduct all SRH and gender-related training, review meeting and all other field and project support events. 
  • Support the AYSRH Program Officer to provide monitoring and technical support to target facilities.
  • Travels to target sites and provide the required logistic support and ensure proper utilization of SRHR related materials distributed by the project.
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the Regional Finance Team and ensure timely settlement of work advances.
  • Effect project payments and ensure that all financial documents are maintained properly.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly cash forecast for the project. 
  • Maintain petty cash fund and coordinate with the Regional Finance Team for timely replenishment.
  • Assist AYSRH Program Officer in updating inventories in the office.
  • Assist staff within the program office in completing time sheets and submit them to the Regional Finance team for payroll processing.
  •  Develop and maintain filing system (both electronic and hard copies) for financial and personnel file.
  • Assist in the preparation of regular scheduled report. 
  • Implements all other duties and responsibilities as required by her/his supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, economics or elated social sciences.
  • Minimum of five years of prior experience in financial and logistics management in AYSRH and AYHD related project activities. 
  • Experience in practical fieldwork and experience in NGO,
  • Prior experience in Pathfinder projects, and/or its sub grantees will be an advantage.
  • Must have strong writing and communication skills both in English and Amharic
  • Skills and experience in computer applications and utilization is mandatory.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and have strong interpersonal skills and skills to promote teamwork.
  • Must demonstrate strong interest and commitment to Adolescent and Sexual and Reproductive Health.
  • Must have demonstrable personal integrity and honesty and must have a pleasant personality.
  • Must be willing to travel frequently to project activity regions and woredas as per need.
  • Residents of Sekota or its surroundings are preferred.
