Job Description
Vital Strategies is a US-based international public health organization working in more than 70 countries to strengthen public health systems and address leading causes of morbidity and mortality.
Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is a global health initiative of Vital Strategies that since 2017 has worked closely with low- and middle-income country governments, the World Health Organization, academic and other civil society partners to strengthen national capacity to prevent, detect and respond to epidemic threats and build capacity for and implement a core package of interventions to reduce cardiovascular disease. In partnership with the World Health Organization and Ethiopia’s Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), RTSL has been supporting the implementation of a hypertension control program in 70 government primary health care facilities in five regions and two city administrations since March 2020.
Overall Role:
Reporting to the Country Director, the Project Coordinator, Maintaining Essential Medical Services program, based in Ethiopia, will be responsible for providing technical support in the design, implementation, and review of a new joint initiative of the Preventing Epidemics and Cardiovascular Health (CVH) teams of RTSL. As a member of the Vital Strategies/RTSL Ethiopia team, the Project Coordinator will work closely with an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) specialist and Monitoring and Evaluation specialist seconded to the Ministry of Health and RTSL’s Ethiopia Hypertension Control Program Manager. At the field level, within the 70 health facilities and surrounding communities, the Project Coordinator will help train and supervise IPC mentors, hypertension regional coordinators, and community health extension workers (CHEWS) attached to the facilities. The Project Coordinator will also work to build partnerships with community-based health-promoting organizations for the purpose of trust-building and co-promoting accurate and timely health risk communications. The Project Coordinator will be supervised by the Vital Strategies Country Director.
