Job Description

Job Summary

  • Rank the alerts to indicate the degree of risk associated with detected event or behaviour.
  • Works with WASH and RRM emergency coordinator and reports to all as required.
  • Participate on rapid WASH needs assessment with the concerned partners and prepare narrative and detail report.
  • Provide leadership with the concerned partners on the WASH Sector decision-making by humanitarian watch and alert system.
  • Ensure the technical soundness for the reports on the rapid assessment for the PA office and concerned partners as required timely.
  • Review the alerts received with verification and participate on rapid WASH assessment linked to HAC.
  • Support on the WASH sector decision making by Humanitarian alert system and rapid WASH need assessment.
  • Prepare narrative and detail technical report on the response for the WASH and emergency Coordinator as required for any input and approval. 
  • Maintain emergency responding as planned timely keeping the system with providing quick notification for unusual and potentially dangerous or difficult circumstances.
  • Working with beneficiaries at grass-root level and close communication with government partners and project team for timely updating the alerts management and verifications happening around the project area. 
  • Performs internal operational verification and control checks of the Field Operations to assess compliance with the programme procedures.
  • Provide advice on strategic aspects of verification, and refinement of day-to-day operations related to verification.
  • Design and deliver induction and refresher training related to verification.
  • Establish database enabling accurate verification reports to be compiled for use by the Plan and for external reports.
  • Lead data entry and management of verification reports to Monitoring and Evaluation Team.
  • As required, co-operate with Monitoring and Evaluation and child protection team to ensure gender mainstreaming in all activities in the area of responsibilities.
  • Ensure that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant implementation standards and guidelines as applicable to area of responsibility. Including, but not limited to, ensuring staff and stakeholders are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC); relevance to area of work, and concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Job Requirements

  • BA degree in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Community Development, Economics, Statistics and other related subjects.
  •  Minimum of 2 years NGO related work experience for degree holders either as Alert Management and Verification officer, Monitoring and Evaluation and/or related.
  • Experience in training, familiarity with stimulation/awareness methods, knowledge in child development and, DRR, Hygiene Promotion and Monitoring and Evaluation. 
  • Motorbikes Driving License

Desirable

  • Previous experience in resilience related work at community level is an advantage;
  • Good team spirit and ability to establish good relations with other people, organization and activity supervision skills,
  • Capacity to manage priorities, precision, autonomy, creativity, flexibility
  • Basic computer skill (desirable and advantageous)
  • Problem solving and conflict management skills;
  • Gender and culture sensitivity;
  • Community facilitation skills;
  • Good knowledge of Local language, Amharic and English languages;
  • Report writing skills
  • The job holder must be committed to reside in the rural community after employment
