Job Description

Purpose:

The ICT Specialist works closely with the ACEWM Project Implementing Units

(PIUs) to implement ICT functions and support ICT related Action Plan across the administrative and teaching activities at ACEWM. The specialist works to provide technical and strategic support and implementation to promote all activities of the Center of Excellence under the guidance and supervision of the Center Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lean and Coordinate the establishment and smooth running of ICT facilities of the Center;
• Coordinate the design, hosting and managing of a custom/dynamic website for the center;
• Maintain electronic and printed newsletters, policy briefs and procurement documents;
• Periodically upload water related new research information and news in the center website
• Ensure the maintenance of a web portal to share information on the ACEWM programme;
• Ensure the maintenance of a social medias and share information properly:
• Assist to establish databases resource depository / resource depository of various resources for water management;
• Oversee ICT resources including e-Learning platform, cluster computing services, electronic resources, protocol and logistics in line with the action plan of ACEWM;
• Assists with the implementation and maintenance of the ICT supported classroom platforms;
• Responds to and resolves any hardware problem (eg. printers, computers, smart board, laptops, iPads, projectors, etc.);
• Responds to and resolves software problems (MS Office, Promethean, Apple OS and iOS, MS Windows, Moodle LMS, and other relevant programing languages);
• Supports the one-to-one student and teacher advice programs;
• Maintains the functionality and appearance of the ICT labs and classroom computers;
• Responds to telephone enquiries for 1st level helpdesk support;
• Sets-up and ensures the technical success of events (sound systems, projectors, laptops, screens, etc.);
• Installs new computer system (desktop or laptop), software & hardware. Performs system updates and changes as necessary;
• Performs proactive printer maintenance and toner replacement;
• Maintains and support proper computer networks for class rooms and office;
• Maintain and support the Center’s smart class and video/virtual conferencing facilities;
• Maintains a software and hardware inventory to ensure all IT resources are properly accounted for within the Center;
• Maintains other computers and other hardware devices;
• Assists and collaborate with the University ICT staff as requested;
• Provide ICT related trainings to students and staff of the Center;
• Perform other related duties as assigned by Center Program Manager;

Job Requirement

• BSc and above in computer science, information technology, software engineering or related field;
• Five (5) years’ experience in BSc graduates /or two years of experience with an MSc, of this two year in similar experience in higher educational institute or research center.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience in the diagnosis of hardware, software and network problems, installation of software and use of common software suites;
• Experience in establishing and managing e-learning systems;
• Experiences in managing video/virtual conference/training
• Ability to develop dynamic and interactive web site
• Ability to learn knowledge of new systems quickly and apply them in the work environment;
• Have the ability to think creatively and solve problems independently;
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;
• Excellent customer service skills
• Team player
• Effective time management and organizational skills;
