Regional Project coordinator.

Amref Health Africa is an African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa envision to bringing lasting health change for Africain more than 30 countries across the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, water and sanitation and health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia has been working in Ethiopia since 2002 in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health implementing a range of projects in maternal, neonatal and child health, reproductive health, health systems strengthening, health workforce development, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases across the country, supported by a wide range of multilateral and bilateral donors, corporates and foundations. 

Amref Health Africa would like to recruit Regional Project coordinator based in Jigjiga, Somali Region and will report to Regional Manager.

A.    JOB OBJECTIVE

Regional Project coordinator will work 100% of his/her time in the project. He/she will provide technical guidance to the project team and will be responsible to monitor project progress in line with the national policy and strategy. He/she provides new insight and up-to-date information for the project team in order to deliver quality services. He/she will ensure the supplies and logistics chain is properly functioning.

B.     MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

§ Provide managerial support to the project team in the region.

§ Responsible overall project matters such as day to day management, resource management

§ Responsible for project reporting.

C.    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

1.      Provides management leadership in the project though co-ordination and supervision of the implementation of project activities and supervision of staff in the project.

2.      Plans, implements, monitors and evaluates project activities including:

§ Preparing project work plans and budgets on annual and ad-hoc basis.

§ Assigning work on project implementation and undertaking continuous coordination and monitoring of the project activities.

3.      Disseminates project information by preparing and disseminating project reports on a regular basis, Provides financial management for the project including:

§ Preparation of budgets on annual basis or on ad-hoc basis.

§ Control of project resources.

§ Approve and monitor project expenditures for other project staff.

4.      Acts as the key contact for the project in the region to:

§ Maintain regular communication with members of the project management team and other members of the country Programmes.

§ Initiate and maintain collaboration with other actors on the ground.

§ Submit progress reports to key partners.

5.      Ensures programme integration and growth by participating in regional meetings and developing new project initiatives.

6.      Undertakes other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

D.    ACCOUNTABILITY:

i.       Supervision: Work independently on tasks related to project management with periodic reporting and direction from supervisors.

ii.     Decision Making: Make decisions on the project implementation and its daily management.

iii.   Responsibility over data or information: Has access to important information as regards the project, its budget and the general trend and performance of the project.

iv.    Responsibility over assets: Proper management of financial resources, equipment and project utilities like vehicles.

Job Requirements

  • 1st level degree in health or Master degree in public health is desirable
  • Relevant experience on WASH/NTDs
  • At least 3 years for Msc and five years for Degree holder
  • Strong team leader and player, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills.
  • Personable and hardworking.
