Job Description

Our International School is a preK-8 school system that was established by the Swedish Embassy in Ethiopia in 1946. Our mission is to facilitate the realization of every child’s full potential and develop resilient, curious, open-minded and reflective students who are able to express themselves fully and effectively.

We currently have 200 students. Our school is an independent not-for-profit school and is interested in hiring professionals for the following positions listed below

Job Requirements

• Diploma/BA/BSc degree in Education or other related filed
• Minimum 5 years for Diploma OR 3 years for BA/BSc of relevant teaching experience preferably in an international education system 

Teaching Assistants load: Teaching Assistants are expected to have a classroom teaching load of a minimum of 25 hours per week and additionally be a homeroom teacher and be involved in the after school activity program.

• Assist teachers with instructional tasks, to include but not limited to one on one tutoring, organizing instructional and other materials, assist in computer labs, assist with classroom management and parental involvement activities, and translation as needed.
• Assist teachers with non-instructional responsibilities.
• Supervise students at recess, lunch, study time, and in other assigned areas.
• Prepare materials to reinforce the regular classroom lesson under the teacher’s direction.
• Participate in school or contact related meetings and in-service activities involving program orientation, curriculum design, materials and evaluation procedures.
• Observe confidentiality of students and student records at all times.
• Check students’ work when subjective evaluation is not needed.
• Assist with the supervision of students during field trips, as assigned by the Principal and/or Designee.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Designee
• Accept responsibility for completion of tasks
• Follow all rules, policies, and procedures of the school, along with all regulations pertaining to all school issues
• Foster a school climate that supports both student and staff success and promotes
• Respect and appreciation for all students, staff and parents.
• Maintains a professional appearance, and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible.
• Engages Parents and guardians in the education of their children.
• Does not engage in discriminatory practices on any basis, including race, origin, gender, socio-economic status, disability, religion, or political beliefs.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator.
