Job Description

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Facility Management Officer is being accountable to the Property & General Service Director; and performs day to day activities and other related activities.

·     Support the Property & General Service Directorate and the management team on any viewings of vacant and available office accommodation.

·     Ensuring that basic facilities are well-maintained and conducting proactive maintenance

·     Dealing with emergencies as they arise

·     Managing the directorate’s budgets

·     Ensuring that facilities meet compliance standards and government regulations

·     Planning for the future by forecasting the facility’s upcoming needs and requirements

·     Helping with office relocations

·     Drafting maintenance reports

·     Ensure that the facility is fully operational with all utilities functioning properly

·     Advising the directorate on measures to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the facility

·     Conduct and document regular facilities inspections

·     Allocate and manage facility space for maximum efficiency

·     Oversee facility refurbishment and renovations

·     Implement best practice processes to increase efficiency

·     Ensure delivery schedules, quantity and quality criteria are met

·     Ensure efficient utilization of facility maintenance staff

·     Perform any other duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility

Job Requirements

MA in Management/Business Administrative/Administration AND 2 years related work experience; OR BA in Management/Business Administrative/Administration AND 4 years related work experience
