Ministry of Trade & Industry, Trade and Industry Young Professionals Development Program

Ministry of Trade & Industry (MoTI) in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft fÜr International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have designed a Young Professionals Program with a dual objective – primarily to groom future Trade & Industry Professionals whom would become leaders in the sectors and with a secondary objective of capacitating the Ministry, particularity enhancing its capability and facilitation roles on exports.

In light of this, under the Program MoTI is hiring Junior and Senior Analysts who would be part of teams carrying out Account/Firm Management; Coordination of Sub-Sector Linkage; Research & Studies; Implementation Support; Contract Registration & Administration; and Market Intelligence & Analytics works.

Specific Roles & Responsibilities 

Senior Analysts must be able to

• Build Successful Relationships: with experience building trust-based relationships and partnerships with senior and mid-level management to deliver on shared goals;
• Display sound political & technical judgment: that helps build momentum, enable change and overcome barriers;
• Lead problem solving: analyzing complex problems, extracting insight from data, identifying and structuring key issues, and simplifying the approach to solving them;
•  Take full ownership over multiple work streams: demonstrating comfort amid ambiguity, proactivity, dependability and excellent work ethic;
•  Provide challenge & effective feedback: strong influencing and negotiating skills and ability to give constructive feedback; empower teams by balancing challenge and support;
•  Lead a team of Analysts: lead a team of analysts and civil servant experts, ensure production of quality outputs; ensure team outcomes/goals are achieved; coach and mentor team members;
• Design and write high-quality presentation and reports: produce clear, concise and compelling narratives through a combination of data, and exceptional story-telling;
• Facilitate & communicate effectively: lead interactive workshops and deliver high quality training sessions;
•  Navigate & achieve change: have knowledge or experience operating in a political environment/ public sector and driving reforms in the public sector;

Job Requirements

Senior Analyst Role

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with minimum GPA of 3.0 and above (preferred areas of study: Business, Economics, Engineering, Marketing, Law, Communications, Business Information System, Computer Science, Information Systems, and Logistics and any other related filed);
•  A minimum of 3 years of relevant, full-time work experience in government, consulting, public policy, and/or relevant fields (preferred areas of experience: trade, export, industry, investment, digitization/automation in any types of organization)
• Excellent analytical (qualitative & quantitative), problem-solving, and data gathering skills;
• Excellent command of Microsoft Office (i.e, Excel modeling, Power Point presentation etc.);
• Demonstrated ability and experience working with senior/middle level managements;
• Demonstrated ability and experience in working with a Team (2+ members) and leading a small team (at least on single assignment/projects);
• Superb organizational skills, proven capacity to juggle multiple projects, work streams, and requests;
• Fluency in English & Amharic required with excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment, with an emphasis on high performance, results and accountability;
• A ‚can-do‛ attitude, expectations to be working long hours, and an ability to learn fast;
•  Knowledge of specific policy fields, such as trade, industry is desirable
