Job Description

BACKGROUND INFORMATION/OBJECTIVES

FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and coordinate project activities, from substantive points of view, applying strategic planning and systematic coordination of project activities and project areas.
  • Manage day-to-day project implementation and overall coordination of project outcomes.
  • Ensure supervision of the Project and ensure effective communication and coordination between the Project offices.
  • Provide direction and leadership in advocating project objectives and in ensuring that all interested parties are well informed about the project activities and goals.
  • Identify any support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the Project.
  • Ensure timely preparation and compilation of the Project Annual/Quarterly Work Plans and Progress/Final substantial and financial reports and its submission.
  •  Prepare the project semi annual progress reports (progress against planned activities, update on risks and issues, expenditures), annual review report and final review reports, and submit them to the donner as well as the regional director as appropriate.
  • Plan, organize and participate in the transparent tender bidding or request for proposal processes for the selection of consultants and suppliers and ensure the preparation of clear tender bidding evaluation reports.
  • Ensure the quality of outputs and results with optimal monitoring mechanisms; establish effective coordination, monitoring, information sharing and reporting systems.
  • Together with the Country Office, prepare funding proposals and concepts for mobilization of resources and progress reports to donor organizations, monitoring, evaluation and lessons learned reports and other relevant project-related documents, including substantive correspondence for a) resource mobilization, b) partnership building, c) reporting.
  • Guide and orient efforts and contributions of consultants, staff and government counterparts towards achievement of project objectives. Mobilize goods and services to initiate activities, including drafting TORs and work specifications.
  • Ensure proper professional relationships with relevant national and international partner agencies, relevant developing programmes/projects.
  • Ensure proper professional relationships with community leaders, local NGOs and other Community Based Organizations
  • Manage the transfer of Project deliverables, documents, files, equipment and materials as per the standards of Synergos institute.
  • Ensure establishment and maintenance of proper electronic and paper filing systems.
  • Perform other duties that may be required by the regional director Programme Officer and Senior Management.

Job Requirement

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Agribusiness, Business Administration /Management, Operations, or other relevant fields

Experience:

  • At least 10 years professional experience in managing and implementing development project. supporting planning and program management.
  • Experience with market development, value chain analysis and inclusive business of horticulture sector.
  • Experience in horticulture, nutrition sensitive agriculture, and seed sector will be an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data-gathering skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills including thorough knowledge and understanding of various regional level and federal level institutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of agriculture and rural development, in particular:
  • Ethiopian policies and strategies
  • Agricultural cluster and
  • Horticulture Business
  • Market-led value chain development and upgrading
  • Excellent social and networking skills, ability to engage with the private sector, civil society, donors, and governments.
  • Able to strategically inspire and energies project teams.
  • Multidisciplinary profile to support the different specialists in the team.
  • Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing various stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to all project locations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with highly collaborative working style
  • Experience in working within multi-cultural teams preferred.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic required, fluency in regional language preferred.
  • Strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty, and desire to be of service.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment, with an emphasis on high performance, teamwork, accountability, and results.

Duration of Employment: 3 year

Working nature: Full-time assignment

Duty station:  Supervisor: 35 hours a week Addis Ababa Regional Director
