Roles and responsibilities
- Monitor and support the proper TB culture and DST testing of patients according to the national algorithm.
- Advise and support the national TB reference laboratory and the program.
- Monitor the consumption and utilization of TB culture and DST testing’s according to the national TB diagnostic laboratories.
- Establish a well working system or platform and monitor the regular supply availability and provision of supplies for regional TB culture and DST laboratories.
- Monitor the proper management of laboratory data at regional laboratories.
- Monitor the appropriate laboratory diagnosis of drug resistant TB according to the national diagnostic algorithm.
- Support the communication and connection of regional TB culture and DST laboratories with their respective referring facilities or treatment initiating & follow up centers.
- Schedule and coordinate regular mentorships and technical assistance for regional TB culture & DST laboratories.
- Compile program supervision reports and data and present for respective stakeholders.
- Implement and monitor tuberculosis focused technical assistance in line with national priorities.
- Conduct regular onsite and online support for TB culture and DST laboratories.
- Support regional and national TB culture and DST laboratories on proper, quality testing, sample transportation.
- Support the startup and establishment of new TB culture and DST laboratories.
- Build capacity of technical staffs and leaders within the network.
- Standardize training materials on technical and programmatic aspects
Job Requirements
- Masters in diagnostic Microbiology, Infectious Disease or any related field with background in medical laboratory
- Experience in TB laboratory diagnosis and TB program.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Knowledge on Global End-TB strategies and its alignment with the National Tuberculosis Program and implementation modalities, TB research priority areas, current TB diagnostic algorithm and technologies
Required Skills and attributes
- Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation and stakeholder engagement/coordination
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and ability to address complex issues and concepts clearly, concisely and with influence.
- Excellent computer literacy and strong, demonstrable experience of the design and use of quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Familiarity with the applications of statistical data entry and analysis software (SPSS, STATA, Epi-Data, Epi-Info etc.
