Job Description
INTRODUCTION
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) was launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. GAIN is a global, Swiss-based foundation that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition.
In light of the existing evidence on the effectiveness of worksite nutrition programs in improving workers’ dietary consumption behaviour and nutritional status, a base line survey that involves both quality and quantitative data is planned to be conducted in Bole Lemi, Hawassa and Adama Industrial Parks to assess the dietary practices and nutritional status of the workers in these IPs and ultimately serve as a spring board to launch both the establishment of Workers Cooperative, a flagship of IDH Ethiopia as well as the Workplace Nutrition Flagship program of GAIN/SBN Ethiopia at these Industrial parks and their respective factories.
OBJECTIVES
The overall objective is to do a baseline survey of Knowledge, Attitude, Practice, Behaviour (KAPB), and food supply system assessment around nutritious and safe food consumption among thirty factory workers based in Bole Lemi, Hawassa and Adama Industrial Parks. The findings of this baseline survey will help to develop a guideline including standard diet menu in considering the gap, cost for diet and market availability of food items.
SCOPE OF THE WORK
The field data collection team will be responsible for collecting various qualitative and quantitative data from Bole Lemi, Hawssa and Adama Industrial parks, transcribing and translating interviews (as needed), reviewing the transcripts for clarity, and basic coding, analysis and providing preliminary reports.
