Job Summary

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Dermatopathologist under Laboratory Management Center.

Job Summary

The Dematopathologist will analyze and understand the clinical aspects of dermatologic diseasein order to provide up-to-date clinically relevant pathological diagnosis and capable of clinical and pathological significance of his/her interpretation. He/she will also actively involve in the implementation of dermatology related up-to-date laboratory techniques

Duties and Responsibility

  • Perform Dermatopathology related laboratory requests by AHRI researchers and students.
  • Perform the routine Dermatopathology laboratory tests requested by ALERT hospital physicians.
  • Advise students and researchers in their research/lab work and deliver the required professional support.
  • Train AHRI staffs, students and researchers with Immunocytochemistry and other special staining techniques.
  • Work with AHRI pathology laboratory staffs to implement advanced staining techniques including Immunohistochemistry.
  • Active participation in dermatology related activities of AHRI.
  • Ensure service provision of high quality standards in dermatopathology diagnostics for both research and clinical service involve in other activities assigned by the innovation and research director. 

Job Requirements

  • MD with specialty certificate in Dermatology
  • 1 year and above in dermatopathology service experience and fellowship training in dermatopathology
  • Experience of dermatology and dermatopathology
  • Training and experience on Immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and other special staining.
  • Research experience is an asset.
