Job Summary

Responsible for propagating and cultivating a variety of flowers, shrubs, trees and other plants at Friendship Square, managed by MIDROC Ethiopia, Addis Ababa.  Maintains greenhouse and nursery as a functioning propagation facility, including buildings, hoop houses and cold frames; propagates plants by budding, layering, or dividing in a greenhouse or cold frames; cultivates plants by watering, spraying various mixtures of insecticides, applying fertilizers, and regulating temperatures by ventilation and heating controls. Organizes seed collection efforts; processes, records and stores collected seeds; keeps detailed records of inventory of seeds, plants, equipment, tools and supplies; maintain detailed records of seed provenance.     

Job Requirements

EDUCATION: 

• Completion of secondary school.

EXPERIENCE: 

• Two years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of plant species and maintenance behaviors external and houseplants.
• Basic knowledge of garden soil preparation and plant installation.
• Plant pests and pathogens identification and treatment skill.
