Job Description
- Provide evidence-based practices to support children with significant disabilities in the areas of functional communication, adaptive play and related skill areas.
Job Responsibilities:
- Administer baseline and ongoing assessments
- Plan, implement, monitor and adjust child-centered interventions
- Develop and facilitate small group programs to support individual children’s skill development needs
- Use strength-based skill development practices to optimize children’s interests and capabilities
- Demonstrate techniques and train parents on interventions
- Fully utilize available materials and demonstrate capability and creativity in making and customizing materials
- On-the-job training is provided for all job responsibilities listed above.

- The candidate selected for this position is making a long-term commitment to the organization. This is a pioneering position using best-practices to enhance the quality of life for children with significant disabilities and their families. There is an expectation to effectively integrate previous learning with newly acquired skills in order to support each child’s growth and development across the areas affected by their disability.

Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Degree from recognized university in one of the following areas: Speech-Language Therapy, Special Needs Education, Physiotherapy.
Required Skills:
- Empathy and patience for clients with and without disabilities
- High levels of self-motivation, initiative taking and problem solving
- Collaborative and contributing member of an interdisciplinary team which includes Physiotherapy and Mobility Aid Workshop
- Languages: Very good spoken and written English; fluent in Amharic
- Proficient computer skills for efficient and accurate completion of administrative tasks of documentation, reports and record keeping
Required Experience
- Relevant experience working with children with special needs
