Job Summary

Ethiopian Midwives Association (EMwA) is a legally registered, autonomous, and not-for-profit professional association established in 1992 and re-registered under the new civil society proclamation. (EMwA) operates in all regions of Ethiopia and the two city administrations by using and works for the quality of midwifery education and care. EMwA has been a member of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) since 1993.

The primary goal of EMwA is to contribute towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Ethiopia to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The vision of the association is to see every woman, newborn, and their family have access to standard midwifery care. The mission of the association is to promote and enhance the expansion, performance and status of midwifery profession through adapting quality and evidence based practices; adhering to the code of ethics and conduct empowering the professionals.

Role:

The IGA officer will be in charge of all income generating activities that are initiated to provide means to achieve a financial sustainability for EMwA. The IGA Officer will perform his/her role to assist in carrying out all Income Generating activities and the upkeep of existing business relationships under the supervision of the Executive Director or IGA Manager 

Major Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for operating, keep safety all the digital operating equipment.
  • Support the preparation of project reports on IGA activities
  • Identify market for the produced product and organize market linkage to the beneficiaries 
  • Organizes copy flow, coordinates multiple production schedules and printing deadlines; troubleshoots and remedies related issues;
  • Monitor stocks of materials such as paper, ink, and metal in order to maintain supplies during equipment operation.
  • Asses job orders to determine any special printing instructions, stock specifications, colors or quantities to be printed
  • Assist in training, scheduling and distributing work to other staff members.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the quality of the order
  • Improving processes and cost-efficiency
  • Prepare payment sheet and submit to finance unit for copy/print materials
  • Mapping of IGA actors/stakeholders at community and national level
  • Plan, follow-up and report on the implementation of IGA activities
  • Ensuring collaboration between different staff in different projects
  • Working with clients, briefing and advising them with regard to design style, format, print production and timescales.
  • Conduct visualize and design materials to be printed, such as brochures, display pieces, and mailers.
  • Perform other activities as may be assigned form time to time by the supervisor
  • Assess market and design trends to create timely, trendy designs that look fresh and current.
  • Perform all administrative aspects of production, including preparing the final designs, checking and approving color, copy, text format separations, and scaling images for print production.

  • Position Reports to: Executive Director or IGA Manager 
  • Working Relationships: CPD department, IRB, finance and M&E unit, Project staffs.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • BA or Diploma in Business Administration or Marketing Management or related fields 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4/8 years relevant experience on Income generating activities
  • Experience of working in NGO

Additional Training:

  • Full professional Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and also adobe Photoshop
  • Able to respectfully challenge cultural perceptions /beliefs held by groups and work with highly sensitive material on reproductive.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Amharic

Desired Criteria (An Asset)

  • Experience in I/NGO environment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills is an asset.
