Job Summary

Reports to: Country Finance and Admin manager

Duration: 10 months

ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT:

Farm Radio International is a Canadian organization that has been working since 1979 to harness the power of radio to meet the needs of small-scale farmers. We work with more than 1,000 radio organizations located in more than 40 African countries to fight poverty and food insecurity. With the benefit of FRI resources and training, our broadcasting partners deliver practical, relevant, and timely information to tens of millions of farmers, including women farmers. We also work with a range of partners to implement radio projects that address specific development challenges and community needs.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Farm Radio International (FRI) Ethiopia Office seeks Resource Analyst (Finance and Operation Assistant) to support its program.

Under the direction of the Finance and Admin Manager, the Resource Analyst (Finance and Operation Assistant) will be responsible for implementing managing resources and support activities related to office administration, operations, logistics, finance, and program implementation. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out program logistics including procurement of supplies, and contractors as needed;
  • Organize logistics of in-country and off-shore trainings, conferences and study tours;
  • Coordinate his/her activities with the Finance and Admin Officer;
  • Provide personnel, finance, legal, and security support to the program as needed;
  • Ensure effective use of funds only for purposes described in the program design and budget and per guidance provided by the Program Director and Finance Manager;
  • Follow FRI’s financial and procurement policies and procedures;
  • Liaise with service providers as needed;
  • Obtain information and quotes for procurement processes;
  • Oversee the administration of program files and relevant documents, including the filing of documents, physically and electronically;
  • Registering and tracking all incoming and outgoing physical correspondence;
  • Perform receptionist tasks as needed;
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of financial processes as needed;
  • Reconcile inventory/fixed asset on each three months
  • Ensured that stock items are properly maintained and updated;
  • Update and reconcile fixed assets registration book
  • Follow and perform repair and maintenance of office, vehicles and equipment/furniture as needed
  • Follow and perform any periodic settlement of bills and other FRI obligations (ethio-telecom bill, staff insurance premium, payroll tax and pension contribution, etc.)
  • Collection of advice from banks
  • Perform other administrative tasks within the program’s scope of activities, as instructed and required.

Job Requirements

  • College Degree in Accounting/Management
  • Minimum two years office experience; prior experience working for international organizations or donors preferred;
  • Resource management and/or Office administration experience;
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with partners, donors and other relevant stakeholders and personnel associated with this program;
