Job Summary

Department: National polio and measles laboratory

Educational requirement: The job requires the completion of Bsc in

Medical Laboratory

Salary:

Experience: 15 years, specially work on cell culture and certified, work on 

laboratory store management

Duration of contract: 12 months with possibility of extension

Place: Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Addis Ababa

Primary Purpose

  • An experienced laboratory technologist who mange and work at all activities of the national polio and measles laboratory. Specially work with commitment on the cell culture and laboratory store management.

Job Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills in facilitation and stakeholder engagement/coordination
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and ability to address complex issues and concepts clearly, concisely and with influence.
  • Highly committed and motivated
  • Excellent computer literacy and strong, demonstrable experience of the design and use of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Familiarity with the applications of statistical data entry and analysis software (Excel, Epi-Info etc.)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Implementation of tissue culture system in eradication of polio viruses under global program.
  • Keeping WHO accreditation point in EPHI National polio and meseals laboratory
  • Upgrading the Lab quality for global accreditation program.
  • Implementation of new technical methods for new requests.
  • Training new comers in the Lab and refresh ongoing techniques at working area.
  • Consulting and advising young nations to get more knowledge.
  • Joining the research approach related with viral diseases. 
  • Order annual consumption for the national laboratory
  • Complete store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees
  • Compile and document with hardcopy and soft copy for all the received materials and supplies
  • Prepare and use bin card for stores
  • Handle properly all laboratory instruments/equipment and ensures timely reporting
  • Prepare and submits monthly and /or annual laboratory and stock reports, as deemed necessary
  • Receives ,stores ,tags and tracks store items ,prepare properly lists and keep separate register of all store items
  • Receives and inspects all incoming materials and reconciles with receipts or issue vouchers
  • Supporting ongoing tissue culture system in isolation of Polio viruses in Ethiopian national polio and measles Laboratory.
  • Sharing advanced experiences as expert in cell culture technique and viruses isolation.
  • Perform related tasks requirement
