DESA PLANTS PLC is a foreign investment company in the horticulture sector located in Ejersa, 9km from Modjo. Our main activities are production and export of high quality flower seedlings to the European and USA market.

TITLE

Technical Manager

JOB OVERVIEW

We look for a highly qualified and experienced Technical Manager who will plan and direct all technical activities within the technical department. The Technical Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities through own input and by coordinating his supporting staff: 

• Daily management of the technical department. To manage all tasks within a specified timeframe and budget.
• To train, motivate, coach and maintain an efficient and competent technical team.
• Work closely together with other departments.
• To keep all equipment always in production (construction, electrics, refrigeration equipment, fertilizer units, climate computer and equipment, water treatment installations, generators, protection equipment, vehicles …).
• Develop and implement maintenance programs for all equipment on the farm; ensure proper stock levels of critical spare parts; set priorities and develop instructions and procedures.
• Responsible for startup and follow up of expansion projects.
• Establish control systems and develop new procedures to improve existing systems.

Job Requirements

Qualification

• BSc Degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, and industrial, Agricultural) with relevant experience.

Experience

• 5 or more years of relevant work experience in the same position (experience in the horticulture sector is more advantageous)

• Tactful, analytical capacity, problem solver, persuasive communication skills, fluent in both written and verbal English communication, team player, people manager, achieves goals and targets even under pressure, good computer skills, budgeting, persistent, stress resistant, inspiring, keeps ethical and company values high.
