Job Description
Vision Aid Overseas, an International NGO aimed at fighting poverty by transforming access to eye care services, is seeking a new member to join our Ethiopia team. Our work focuses on the development of services for Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE), primary eye health, and School Eye Health. We currently operate in five countries across Africa: Ethiopia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Zambia, and Tanzania.
VAO Ethiopia is a registered charity under the Ethiopian Democratic Republic of Ethiopia agency for Civil Society Organization Proclamation No. 113/2019 with Certificate No.3638.
VAO has been working in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus, and professional associations to tackle vision impairment and blindness due to URE for over 10 years.
We have established a base office in Addis Ababa and are seeking a Program Manager to be based in Nekemte Town to lead our School Eye Health project for the next three years.
Reporting to the Country Manager, you shall be the project implementation lead and shall ensure effective planning, delivery of action plans and communication with the project team and local stakeholders. You shall ensure the project complies with VAO’s Monitoring and Evaluation framework, theory of change, and specific donor requirements. You shall develop project milestones and schedules in consultation and with the guidance of the country Programme Manager. You will lead and manage all School Eye Health activities – from needs assessments and annual project plans and budgets as well as M&E processes.
Vision Aid Overseas has a practice of employing local nationals and we seek people with strong written and spoken English as well as Amharic and Afaan Oromo languages, as you will need to communicate with local government, Head /Country office, and beneficiaries in the project area.
Your ability travel within Oromia Region and to Addis Ababa is essential.
