Sucafina is the leading, sustainable, farm to roaster coffee company in the World. It is also the premier supplier of East African coffees, including Ethiopia. The Sucafina Ethiopian Representative Office has been in operation since 2016. Previously focused primarily upon commercial coffees, we are focused upon growing this business while shifting attention towards growing our presence in the specialty coffee market.

This individual will be responsible for handling the day-to-day activities of the logistics department in our office. Working closely with a core team of like‐minded individuals they will help organize and align department activities to manage and allocate purchases, oversee and follow shipments, and liaise with suppliers, destination offices, and clients alike to ensure shipments are completed and processed as per schedule.

Location:

Primarily based in Addis Ababa at the SUCAFINA Ethiopian Representative Office in the Lancha area with occasional trips to the field.

Responsibilities:

  •  Will assist in analyzing daily position and allocate purchases in tandem with Sourcing Department;
  • Prepare weekly logistics reports and help conduct weekly meetings with team members to coordinate and complete necessary activities as per schedule;
  • Responsible for liaising with suppliers to follow up on shipments and ensure that purchases are being completed as per contract schedule;
  • Responsible for liaising with destination offices, clients and/or Sucafina offices to report on purchase developments and complete needed activities as per schedule;
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate sample database, including cupping results, and share findings with destination offices and clients;
  • Responsible for the dispatch samples to destination offices and/or client as per schedule while recording dispatch information into sample database accordingly;
  • Will be responsible for registering purchase contracts as per Sourcing Department schedule into SOL systems;
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining accurate information into SOL systems to better guide logistics activities and ensure the shipment of purchases as per schedule;
  • Responsible for disseminating shipment status and logistics team activities to other Rep. Office Departments to better align office operations and activities;
  • Responsible for compiling and reporting logistics information as required for upper Sucafina management;
  • Responsible for compiling, analyzing and interpreting logistical information from suppliers, shipping lines, destination offices and other supply chain actors to comprise reports to steer and improve Sucafina Ethiopia operations.

Reporting Line: Reports to QC & Supply Chain Manager

Start Date: Position to begin on 1st of April 2021.

Job Requirements

BA Degree in Business, Management, Economics, Logistics or other related field of study

At least 3‐years of work experience in logistics preferably in the coffee sector

Competence:-

  • Good command of Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Must be perfect in English;
  • Must have good communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships;
  • Must be able to critically analyze issues and propose solutions;
  • Understanding of corporate hierarchy and chain of reporting;
  • Must be able to adapt to changing work conditions and be resourceful in completing tasks as per schedule;
  • Self‐guided, excellent organizational and planning skills;
  • Must be able to work in a group or independently, in sometimes difficult settings, under pressure;
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel to remote field sites.
