Position Title: Associate Marketing Director

Reports to: Director, Marketing and Communications

Based in: Addis Ababa

Duration of contract: Indefinite based on performance and availability of funds.

Remuneration: As per the organization pay scale plus other PSI/Ethiopia staff benefits

We are looking for a dynamic and result oriented Associate Marketing Director to create self-sustaining market for our Key Health Programs by (i) Instill marketing discipline within our program design process. (ii) designing and implementing marketing strategies using PSI Standard Keystone Design Frame (iiI) putting consumer and insight at the heart of programs design and implementation by applying empathy and human/user-centre design approach and (iv) using effective and creative private and public partnership.

Key Result Areas:

  • Leading Keystone Framework and User Centre Design to:
  • Ensure marketing discipline is applied within program design process.
  • Craft annual marketing planning for product / service portfolio or SBC campaign
  • Design an SBC-oriented, or market development-oriented intervention.
  • Launch a new product/service or redesigning an existing product/service.
  • Implement marketing strategies.
  • Lead capacity and capability building in Keystone Framework, User Centre Design, Key Marketing Principles.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instill marketing discipline within our program design process. 
  • Lead the creative and marketing strategy.
  • Monitor performance and course corrects creative and marketing strategy.
  • Define growth opportunity using the market and consumer trend and insights.
  • Develop marketing plan using the keystone framework and User Centre Design including clear strategies for all four “Ps” and implement marketing initiatives within the respective programs.
  • Oversee the design, testing and production of marketing job aids, promotion materials and tools for effective marketing solutions.
  • Lead the introduction and implementation of technology and partnership within programs.
  • Conduct quality assurance monitoring and supervision of marketing activities.
  • Provide marketing related capacity building to local implementing partners and other institutions supported by PSI Ethiopia, as well as for PSI/E staff, as needed.
  • Review research materials, statistics and figures relevant for undertaking marketing strategy and activities within the programs.
  • Support fundraising by developing concept notes and proposals for new business development.
  • Use knowledge and skills of commercial marketing approaches, and examples of successful and scalable marketing interventions to influence a range of in country partners including Ministry of Health, private sectors, staff from implementing organizations and local policy and funding stakeholders.

 Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Develop and implement the Department’s plans and objectives.
  • Monitor and ensure proper utilization of the Department’s budgets.
  • Identify human resources requirements of the Department and develop plan for meeting the requirements.
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of relevant Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Review, approve and submit Departmental reports to relevant organs.
  • Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, ongoing performance dialogue and feedback.
  • Represent the Organization in external relationships related with the Department.
  • Participate in group decision making processes by forming part of different groups/committees. 

Job Requirements

What are we looking for? The basics

  • Master’s degree in marketing, private sector development or health communications or related fields with six (6) years of demonstrated experience out of which four (4) years at Managerial level

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, private sector development or health communications or related fields with eight (8) years of demonstrated experience out of which four (4) years at Managerial level

 What would get us excited?

  • Proficient in MS office applications and market research and analysis tools
  • Proficient in English and Amharic languages, both written and verbal communication
