Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with Regional Health Bureau PHEM and COVID- 19 Surveillance Officers to coordinate Regional Covid-19 surveillance activities
  • Implement scenario-based contact tracing of identified cases based on local level of transmission as well as quarantine and monitoring of potential contacts
  • Coordinate active case search, Community Based Surveillance (CBS) and targeted household level surveillance
  • Coordinate reception from all potential sources and verification as a member of facility rapid response team
  • Implement targeted testing
  • Map high-risk / vulnerable populations
  • Strengthen Home Based Isolation and Care (HBIC) follow up team
  • Support a referral linkage from the community to the health facility
  • Support PHEM unit in public and private health facilities as per needed
  • Ensure appropriate collection, storage and transportation of respiratory samples collected for different testing reasons
  • Compile facility-based data on Covid-19 and enter in to data base
  • Support school surveillance
  • Prepare and submit weekly surveillance report, monthly report and quarterly report as required by the donor
  • Provide training for relevant health facility and Extension Health Workers
  • Facilitate communication and social mobilization
  • Supervise, support, train and mentor facility based COVID- 19 Surveillance Officers
  • Compile and submit weekly surveillance report, monthly report and quarterly report as required by the donor

Employment type –Full time one-year contract with a possibility of renewal for one more year up on availability of funds and successful performance of the first year of contract

Line of responsibility – the surveillance officers will be responsible to the Senior Central Covid-19 Surveillance Coordinators

Job Requirements

Qualification and work experience

Required Qualification and work experience

  • MPH or MSc in health and biomedical science fields and
  • Four years of work experience in health surveillance systems
  • Prior work experience in Covid-19 Surveillance is highly recommend
  • A proven experience of health data management
  • A proven experience of project coordination
  • Proven experience of using statistical software and health data management systems

Desired Qualification and work experience

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills, independence, meticulous attention to details, great team working skills, excellent analytical skills, excellent time management
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Extensive in country travel experience to regions is highly recommended
