Job Description

The Finance & Admin Officer is responsible for establishing and supporting the implementation of an effective finance and admin strategy as well as relevant tools for the SP Gambella office. The post-holder will ensure that the office has the required finance/admin/logistics support needed to deliver organizational objectives effectively and to provide staff with required support. The Finance & Admin Officer will responsibly with SP’s funds and assets, ensure the deliver of value for money, and confirm contracts and purchase agreements for accuracy, fulfilment, timely delivery, and other quality controls. This role works directly with the Finance and Administration Controller, who holds technical line management, to ensure the smooth operation of all finance and administrative matters.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Maintain detailed records for all administrative and financial transactions in an organized and professional manger
  •  Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded in line with SP financial guideline, procedures and standards in a timely fashion;
  •  Prepare and send to Finance and Administration Controller monthly accounts reports according to standard SP financial procedures;
  •  Maintain archive of all financial documents in line with SP guidelines;
  •  Prepare accounts payable documents for approval and make local payments under the direct supervision and on approval of head of Baghdad office;
  •  Perform daily functions including record-keeping, recording all cash, maintaining cash ledgers, monitor field expense reports, and reconcile cash on hand  
  •  Provide required weekly reports by specified deadlines assigned
  •  Ensure administrative and financial activity is carried out in accordance with SP field policies
  •  Provide support to other office staff with regards to administrative needs
  •  Identify areas for financial and administrative improvement and work to implement feasible improvements
  •  With a generous and serving spirit perform all other tasks and responsibilities assigned for the benefit of Samaritan’s Purse

 Job Requirements

Education / Experience Needed

  •  Bachler of Art in Finance/Accounting or Business Management
  •  Two years of experience Previous experience working for an INGO preferred 

Skills Require

  •  A Finance academic certificate or professional qualification
  •  Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in the humanitarian sectors
  •  IT Knowledge (MS packages, advanced use of internet, experience in online systems is preferable
  •  Fluency in English, and local language Preferred
  •  Information about Iraqi Labor Law and Tax Law
  •  Ability to relocate/travel to other areas in Gambella
  •  Able to work under pressure and in insecure areas
  •  Ability to maintain confidentiality
