COOPI Ethiopia is seeking for a qualified and competent Finance Expert (consultant) to be based in Delo Mena field base.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Exploring options for creating a credit guarantee scheme to serve the Union and the associated Cooperatives. And develop, submit a business plan for BYCU.
• Identify feasible models for the guarantee scheme looking at the experiences of other unions, and what steps are needed for the BYCU, the Cooperatives and others to make this happen.
• Support and train union management on how to utilize the credit and repayment period/terms 
• Research and analyze financial information to help Burka Yadot Cooperatives Union make well informed decisions, write reports and present the findings to the coordination meeting platform.
• Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
• Facilitate meeting with communities and primary cooperatives when needed and agreed
• Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models
• Identify trends, advise Union and recommend actions to whom it may concern based on sound analysis
• Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts
• Other duties related to the position and given by the PM.

Duration of the contract:  2 months with possibility of extension

Duty starting date: planned start as soon as the recruitment approval will finalized.

Job Requirements

Qualification

• Candidates for the position should have at least an BA level degree in accounting/ financial management and related fields.
• Experiences working with Union and cooperatives financial management is an additional asset.

Work Experience

• The candidate should have sufficient experience in projects financed by external donors/development partners (particularly AICS, UNIDO and COOPI) and their policies, procedures, and operational guidelines for financial management.
• Good communication and training skills are also essential.
• In addition to a desired professional experience of 3 years and above
• Experience in facilitating relationships between non-governmental organization and community, primary cooperatives, unions, and government.

Skills:

• Strong skills in accounting/financial management
• Ability to work within a team and to take responsibility to deliver results
• Fluency in written and spoken English, Afaan Oromo and Amharic
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
• Ability and willingness to live and work in remote areas and with relatively high work burdens
• Knowledge of working area will be preferable;
• Respect culture, believe in diverse ethnic communities and gender sensitive;
