Central Surveillance Coordinator

Number of positions: One

Duty Station: Addis Ababa (ICAP SI Project Office)

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the HIV Case Surveillance Team Leader, the Central Surveillance Coordinator will take a lead role in the design, development, and coordination of the implementation, and maintenance of information systems that strengthen COVID-19 surveillance and other notifiable conditions. He/she will also be in charge of coordinating COVID-19 surveillance across all regions.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate tasks related to COVID-19 surveillance and other notifiable conditions in all regions
  • Participation in the national COVID-19 surveillance and other notifiable conditions technical meeting and discussion
  • Actively participate in the selection, development, testing, and implementation of the regional and national electronic surveillance data capturing, visualization, and reporting platform
  • Engage in the design and development of data analytic platform for the COVID 19 surveillance and other notifiable conditions
  • Track completeness and quality of COVID 19 surveillance data over in all regions
  • Ensure COVID surveillance reports produced at the national and regional level to support decision-making for COVID surveillance, outbreak, and response activities
  • Engage in design and develop COVID-19 surveillance data visualization dashboard in collaboration with Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI)
  • Continually document and disseminate program successes, case studies, and lessons learned.
  • Produce periodic reports and report on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Conducts follow-up activities required for program monitoring.
  • Supervise the regional team and give feedback regularly.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • MD or Master’s Degree in Public Health or Health Informatics
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive professional experience in Health program preferably on HV/AIDS and public health surveillance program data Management
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and possess good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Have the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools /software including Microsoft Excel, Access, EPI info, Stata, R, and SPSS, and data visualization tools (i.e., Google Data Studio, Excel, Tableau, and Power BI)
  • Proficient in preparing data collection tools, data entry, cleaning, analysis, and interpretation of epidemiological data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
