We are looking for intelligent, honest, curious, and initiative Research Assistants that demonstrate an understanding of study methods, informed consent, research ethics, and study instruments to collect quantitative data for the DMPA-SC pilot study project. We are looking for someone who willfully engages and participates in the data collectors training, attends the health facility provider DMPA-SC self-injection training, and works at both enrollment and follow-up phases.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Enrollment phase

  • Be on-site, at one’s assigned health facility, whenever family planning services are being offered for the period of enrollment. Enrollment is expected to last approximately three (3) months.
  • Collaborate with and support health facility providers to recruit study participants.
  • Conduct informed consent with potential participants before all data collection and self-injection training.
  • Confirm participant eligibility based on set inclusion criteria and administer enrollment survey to consenting participants using an electronic tablet provided.
  • Collect DMPA-SC self-injection training observation checklist from provider and review for missing information.
  • Accurately and regularly enter and upload enrollment survey and checklist responses on provided tablet.
  • Accurately and regularly document recruitment data using tools such as the study log.
  • Secure study documents and tablet at all times.

Follow-up phase

  • The follow-up phase will begin once enrollment is complete and is expected to last approximately three (3) months.
  • Participate in refresher training. 

Quantitative interviews:

  • Schedule follow-up visits with eligible participants and document contact attempts.
  • Conduct follow-up visits at a place of participants’ choosing (within the health centers’ catchment areas) including administering the follow-up survey and completing the self-injection observation checklist.
  • Accurately and regularly enter and upload follow-up survey and checklist responses on provided tablet.
  • Accurately and regularly document follow-up data using tools such as the study log.
  • Secure study documents and tablet at all times.

Job Requirements

What are we looking for? The basics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health or related fields with two (2) years of demonstrated experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and database management tools

 What would get us excited?

  • Demonstrated experience following specific research protocols.
  • Familiarity with data collection using tablets.
  • Familiarity with family planning.
