Job Description of Information Technology Officer for EOC
Number of positions: One
Duty Station: Addis Ababa (ICAP SI Project Office)
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the of the Information Technology (IT) Deployment Team leader, the Information Technology Officer will be responsible for overseeing the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of Regional Emergency Operations Centers’ ICT infrastructure including audiovisual and electric power systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design/Manage/upgrade/Deploy local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems including wireless networks at Regional Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) as required
- Maintain/deploy systems for maximum uptime.
- Monitor system performance and resource requirements, specify and install system upgrades.
- Perform/verify daily backups.
- Troubleshoot system issues to resolution.
- Providing IT Technical supports on ICT infrastructure and emergency management system for Regional EOCs in person or remotely.
- Conduct incidence/emergency management system training of trainers (TOT) and End Users Trainings
- Plans and implements system security policy, to include firewalls, host and client access, file permissions, and user accounts.
- Provide assistance on teleconference/ video conferencing systems configurations and setup
- Work in collaboration with EPHI, regional public health institutes, regional health bureaus and regional laboratories in EOC implementation and support
- Complete performance reports regularly
- Carry out other related tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or electrical engineering or related IT discipline
- At least five years of experience in system and network administration and some experience on EOC support is advantageous
- Strong technical skills and understanding of system administration and networking, system security, and maintenance
- Proven experience of network design and deployment as well as providing IT technical supports
- Demonstrated attitudes in inter-personal relationship and effectively work in team and collaborative activities
