Job Description

  • The Population Council Ethiopia office is planning to conduct a Research study titled Reducing the Prevalence of Child Domestic Servitude in Urban Ethiopia. It invites qualified and experienced candidates who are familiar with the local context of Addis Ababa to apply for the position of Quantitative Data Collector. 
  • The data collector is responsible for quality data collection in the assigned study areas. Candidate will conduct quality interview to the right respondent using study questionnaire prepared for this purpose. Maintain all procedures of data quality and ethical requirements including arranging convenient interview settings, obtaining consents, conducting excellent interview and proper management of completed questionnaires. Successful candidates should fulfill the following requirements:

Responsibilities/Key Functions: 

  • Completion of a one pager household listing for census in Addis Ababa open areas where the Employee shall be assigned to work.
  • Understand and follow the procedures of the data collection guidelines.
  • Act professionally and to be respectful towards participants and peers.
  • Work hard with a high level of commitment and professionalism. This includes demonstrable teamwork, working closely with your supervisors, and other data collectors.
  • Collect maximum number of data as per guideline and orientation.
  • Once filled out, verify the content of data to ensure consistency.
  • Submit number of data collected to supervisor for each day.
  • Respect the confidentiality of the information provided by participants. Confidential information should be kept as per training guidelines.
  • Take the necessary precaution for COVID-19 as not to put yourself and others’ life endanger.
  • Use equipment that employer provides appropriately.
  • This contract of employment is contingent upon work of the highest quality. Lateness, not showing up for work, lack of attention to detail, violation of confidentiality or ethical guidelines or “cooking”/falsifying data will result in your immediate dismissal.
  • Agree to and adhere the Employer’s Child Protection Policy.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Diploma 
  • Interview skills and previous quantitative data collection experience is a must.
  • Demonstration of effective interpersonal communication skills and good team spirit.
  • Fluency in Amharic and Other local languages
