Job Description
The rapid scale-up of ART in Ethiopia has presented human resource challenges at the health facility level and case management was proposed as a potential solution. In response to this, the FMOH has endorsed the HIV/AIDS Case Management model followed by the development and launching of a national HIV/AIDS case management implementation guideline in June 2009.
According to the national guideline, NEP+ and Regional networks has also started the implementation of the ACM project since October 2010 in partnership with Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs) has been implementing CM program by a subcontracting agreement between the organizations. The program was aimed to retain clients on treatment and care.
The Government of Ethiopia has recently issued a guideline for Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV (GIPA) and a national case management guideline to alleviate the challenges posed by a shortage of human resources. It is envisaged that integrated case management will, not only improve clients’ adherence to care and treatment but also to strengthen linkages between health facilities and community-based resources.
