Job Description

Purpose of the position

To ensure that financial and accounting operations and reports accurately reflect the condition of the organization and provide reliable information necessary for operations at the cluster level. 

Major duties and Responsibilities

Field Financial Management and Internal Control Systems

·      Ensure the financial and accounting integrity of World Vision Ethiopia projects.

  • Apply the organization’s financial and accounting policies in the region.
  • Communicate financial and accounting policies and procedures to World Vision Ethiopia’s projects.
  • Ensure the projects’ financial reporting and systems provide timely, accurate, and meaningful information.
  • Enforce the organization’s internal management control systems in the projects.
  • Provide assistance, as needed, to the Associate Finance Directors and Finance Director on financial and accounting issues. Monitor project alignment in terms of financial impacts relating to cash flow, deferral, and fund accounting.

Accounting and Financial Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure World Vision Ethiopia’s projects comply with World Vision’s Finance Manual requirements to generate timely, accurate, and usable monthly reports.
  • Support the Associate Finance Director to effectively communicate World Vision Ethiopia’s financial policies and procedures to project staff.
  • Support the Associate Finance Director to monitor and manage compliance to World Vision Ethiopia’s financial and accounting policies and procedures, both written and unwritten, and ensure corrective action is taken for non-compliance. Provide financial training to project staff.

Regulatory Compliance and Resource Risk Management

  • Ensure effective commitment, protection, and application of project financial resources.
  • Ensure World Vision Ethiopia projects comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Associate Finance Director in providing communication, understanding, interpretation, and relevance of external statutory and regulatory requirements to projects. Support the Associate Finance

Job Requirements

  • Balanced combination of at least six years of Business Management experience in INGOs and for-profit business
  • Excellent working knowledge of GAAP and government/donor regulations and requirements
  • Supervisory and technical expertise in business processes development, internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Finance, Business Administration or related field
