Purpose

The role of finance officer is to undertake activities for the achievement of the objectives of Tigray Program Area through finance support service, Finance Management and cash handling according to the country strategy, program and financial manual & other guidelines for the program office. 

Typical Responsibilities - Key end Results of the Position:*

  • Keeps all financial, purchase and property documents.
  • Facilitate payroll and major disbursement activities of the program area (such as beneficiaries payments, purchases, and commitments) preparations of the office and check/verify payments for approved by the Program Area Manager
  • Follow up of advance, receivables, payables, and taxes accounts of the program area and timely clearing of the accounts
  • Liaison with finance team of Tigray by supplying finance data, system exchange files, financial documents timely to the country office,
  • Collaborate with finance team of Tigray and make necessary supply of data including payroll costs, office costs data, vehicle rent and other overhead costs for the allocations of costs to various projects,
  • Actively participate during the budget preparation, monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing of accounts of the program area,
  • Provide the budget versus actual data for management, support the Program Area manager for effective and efficient utilizations of budget,
  • Follow up of finance assistant to records daily transactions using the accounting systems of ZOA and keeps complete financial documents systematically and safely,
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial report of the office and submit to the finance officer
  • Supervise the finance assistant and provide catching and support in the day-to-day finance functions, such as payments and cash collections processes
  • Coordinate and work closely with other finance officers of the Program Area and Program Area Manager in requesting of Cash from the country office and support the payment processes,
  • Provide timely reply to queries of finance and other staffs of country office
  • Ensures all financial activities are made as per the guidelines of ZOA, and
  • Performs other duties as instructed by the Program Area Manager for Tigray Program

Key performance indicators to the post

  • Quality of finance documentation and report,
  • Timely supply of finance data to the country office, and management
  • Effective implementations of the program budget, and
  • Compliance with all donors, government and internal ZOA policies and procedures rule

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/QUALIFCATION:

  • BA Degree in Finance and Accounting from recognized university
  • 4 years of demonstrated experience as Finance and Admin officer
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written/spoken English
  • Sufficient Knowledge and proven skills of using financial computer system software & programs
  • Experience working with INGO

  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Resolves discrepancies in requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery reports by contacting vendors or requesters
  • Ability to act in a professional and ethical manner
  • Good Communications skill
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and demanding workload
