About the project

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) seeks to recruit a data collector / mentor consultant for a period of time to assist with field data collection and mentorship of health extension workers for its Data Use Partnership(DUP) Project. The goal of the project is to improve collection and use of high quality routine information; improve the quality, efficiency and availability of primary health, and nutrition services at all levels of the Ethiopian health system. JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world.

Summary of Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Research Focal consultant, the data collector / mentor will be responsible for field data collection and mentorship of health extension workers.

Specific Responsibilities

• Will be based in the study woreda, and is expected to travel 80 percent of the time, within the woreda.
• Collect data in the study settings
• Conduct monthly mentorship in the study sites
• Provide and document feedbacks
• Produce monthly mentorship reports
• Compile monthly mentorship reports including best practices and recommendations
• Any other related tasks assigned 

Job Requirements

• BSc Degree in public health, health informatics or related fields, and three years of experience, or Diploma in public health or related fields and six years of relevant experience on data collection and mentorship.
• Experience in data collection, qualitative data translation & transcription
• Relevant experience in mentorship and supervision
• Relevant experience in HIS and report writing 
• Excellent verbal and communication skills in English, and local language of the respective research areas
