PPP Training digital skills- Orange Digital Center 

In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.

The Ethiopian Growth and transformation Plan (GTP) assigns a key role to the education sector for accelerating economic growth, achieving developmental goals and becoming a middle-income country by 2025. The co-financed by the European Union and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), improves the employment prospects of young Ethiopians by promoting quality and relevance in vocational training and higher education. The program establishes strong linkages between the education and the private sector to support the development of a modern education system geared towards employment and economic growth. The program uses public private partnership in various sectors of the economy to facilitate skills development with perspectives and contributions from all sides concerned.

As part of the Strategic Alliance between the Orange Group and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) the develoPPP.de program with technical support by STEP, is seeking to implement an Orange Digital Center in the Information Communication Technology Park (ICT Park) in Addis Ababa.

The project’s objective is to train young people in job-related digital skills, enhance their employability, and thus contribute to reduce youth unemployment through the implementation of the Orange Digital Center within the Information Communication Technology Park (ICT Park), Addis Ababa. The Orange Digital Center combines a Coding School, a FabLab Solidaire and an Orange Fab.

As German organization for international development cooperation with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives. GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes in more than 80 partner countries.

Duration of contract:  31.12.2022

Responsibilities and duties

  • Support the campaign management for the Orange Digital Center and skills development opportunities.
  • Design, plan and develop the digital marketing and the social media activities/strategies, working closely with a variety of stakeholders in the public and private sector.
  • Identify trends and topics for content creation opportunities. Staying up to date with emerging trends and styles across social platforms.
  • Strategize new ways to reach core target groups across multiple digital mediums and produce of high-quality content to promote a cohesive image of the ODC in the Ethiopian digital space. 
  • Increase awareness, acquire new followers, and convert them into visitors and beneficiaries of the Orange Digital Center.
  • Use appropriate analytical tools to measure the performance of posts and campaigns, and to optimize the online experience.
  • Analyze key metrics, and set up reporting and advise to management, ideally using data science skills.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree: Journalism, Communication, IT, Social Media Management, design-related or similar. 
  • Experienced in managing numerous competing priorities and first experiences in a project management environment.
  • Fluent in English, French is an asset.

Professional experience

  • 3 years of relevant experience of direct, hands-on experience supporting social media in a corporate environment, an agency/company, ideally of international scope and/or from a policy-related sector. 
  • Profound experience as a social media manager incl. responsibility to manage corporate social media accounts.

Other knowledge, additional competencies

  • Clear and strong communication paired with a strong and strategic sense in the digital sector.
  • Proven track record of editing and design experience, specifically for social media channels. Photoshop knowledge is a must.
  • Creativity, with an eye for aesthetic design of social media posts and pages.
  • Basic skills in data visualization is required. More comprehensive skills in data science set your application apart.
  • International exposure is a plus.
