Job Description

Mahibere Hiwot for Social Development (MSD) is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization founded in October 1999. Since its establishment, MSD has been implementing different programs in collaboration with partners on providing broad range of HIV prevention, care and treatment services and Sexual and Reproductive health (SRH). Migration & Trafficking, Good Governance, Education and Child Development in different parts of the country.

MSD is looking for qualified and competent applicant for the following position:

Report to : Project Coordinator

Required #: 8 (2 Humera, 2 shire, 2Alamata, 2 Maychew)

Term of   Employment: 6 months with possible extension based on performance and fund availability

Summary:

  • Under the supervision of the project coordinator, HIV Prevention Officer is responsible for facilitating linkages between OVC, care and treatment, HIV testing, community and key population services at Woreda, health facility and Community levels. Further she/he is responsible to provide technical supports to beneficiary, 3Cs, follow-up the implementation of projects and report performance. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Targeted Community Based HIV Testing Service

  • Provision Health facility initiated index case testing referral
  • Assist clients on HIV self-test
  • Provision of community based HIV testing services through mobile, index and home based testing approaches
  • Education on risk avoidance and reduction
  • Condom promotion and distribution
  • Targeted demand creation
  • Risk assessment

Care and Support

  • Symptomatic screening for TB, STI and major depression
  • Nutritional assessment and counseling behavioral interventions to reduce stigma
  • Promotion of WASH and malaria prevention
  • Education on Family planning
  • Economic vulnerability assessment

Care and Treatment 

  • Support HIV positive clients for disclosure and increase ART literacy
  • Home visit to build treatment adherence 
  • Support tracking and reengagement of Lost to Follow up cases 
  • Identification and referral for major drug side effects
  • Community level eligibility assessment for DSDM 

Job Requirements

EDUCATION

  • BA/BSc in Economics, statistics, Sociology or related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • 4 years of work experience in relevant jobs.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

  • Ability to analyze M&E technical issues, to write clear and concise reports and to make effective oral presentations;
  • Skills in developing M&E data collection tools, indicators and plans
  • Computer literacy in basic database and statistical software
  • Excellent written and verbal English skill
  • Experience of working on USAID funded OVC, CHCT, or Family Focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Services projects 
  • Able to communicate in local language of the project intervention areas is mandatory
