Job Description

  • The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU), the sole national center for more than 750,000 workers, has nine affiliated Industrial Federations which are the umbrellas for about 2201 basic trade unions. The core organizational objectives of CETU, as stipulated in its constitution, are: To defend the rights and interests of its members, To unionize the unorganized workers and doing its best to strengthen the unity of organized workers, To raise awareness among workers and coordinating workers’ struggle for their rights and benefits, To contribute its due share for peace, democracy, protection of human rights and equality of peoples and To take an active part in international, regional and sub-Regional labor movement.
  • Currently, in the financial support of EU CSF III , CETU has been implementing a project entitled “Promoting Decent Domestic Work in Ethiopia: Policy Dialogues and Civil Society Action to Promote and Defend the Rights of Domestic Workers.” The overall aim of the project is to increase the quality of life of Domestic Workers (DWs) and promote their dignity and confidence.
  • The position holder is responsible for duties, tasks and activities enabling positive change for Domestic worker project; follows up the ongoing programs and provide pertinent basic support for domestic workers; develops new approaches and uses associated resources to achieve predetermined mission, objectives and goals of the domestic worker association through action plans with little or remote supervision from his /her immediate supervisor.
  • The position holder will play a major role in project implementation, periodic data collection and analysis, devise mechanisms and lead the process for effective dissemination, utilization and documentation of learning at each association level

Duties and Responsibility:

  • Under take and mobilized the overall issues related to Domestic workers Association
  • Monitoring and evaluating and reporting of the feedback for the activities of the Domestic workers association
  • Supports and facilitate domestic workers association members to have contract with the employers
  • Assist CETU office for the realization of this projects of domestic workers issues
  • Participate in the events, conference, workshop and advocate, contribute the voice of Domestic on their rights and responsibility
  • Register, administer and manage the overall data of domestic workers association
  • Represent Domestic workers to contact different government, sake holders and partners for the better situation of domestic workers

Job Requirements

Education: Grade 12 and above

Work Experience: at least 2 years’ experience in similar position (experience in women and domestic workers related project is plus)

Sex: Female

Skill:

  • Ability to actively and consciously perform project tasks;
  • Ability to communicate information selectively and properly; and
  • Computer literate like Ms Word, Ms excel, Ms. Access.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people including volunteers
