Job Description:

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) strives to address nutrition and health-related problems by conducting intervention based research and contributing to the effective implementation of the Food and Nutrition Policy in Ethiopia. To this end, the Food Science and Nutrition Research Directorate is planning to implement a National Food and nutrition survey. This survey will serve as a baseline for the implementation of the Food and Nutrition Strategy. The collectors/Supervisors shall have the following responsibilities and requirements.

Job Requirements

• BSc in Agriculture, Plant Science, Crop science, and Chemistry with 2-years’ experience in soil sampling and laboratory analysis.
• Language: local languages are advantageous

Responsibilities:

• Fill observational checklist using tablet
• Collect Soil sample from the farm field
• Communicate with farmers to collect the soil sample
• Mark the geo coordinates with the help of GPS instrument/ Tablet
• Demarcate the area for each sub-sample based on uniformity in colour, slope, drainage and contrasting past management practices
• Use spade/ sampling auger and other materials for sample collection
• Undertake sampling from several locations within the study limit
• Pack, Label & Dispatch the soil samples to EPHI
• Additional activities could be given by project coordinator
