- HFE was established in 1974 G.C by Drs. Catherine and Reginald Hamlin have been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost 60 years. Including our main Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, we have 5 regional hospitals, a rehabilitation and reintegration center, and The Hamlin College of Midwives. We deploy midwives into rural health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these facilities.

Job Purpose:
- We are seeking to appoint a fully qualified professional who has a demonstrable ability to work in a team and display excellent communication skills and play a pivotal role in bringing change in improving the quality of teaching and learning activities through capacity building and implementing a system.
Duties and Responsibilities
Major Duties and Responsibilities of an Assistant Professor includes the following, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership in developing academic vision and plan for the college
- Engage in planning activities, and contribution towards curriculum development, research and other forms of scholarly activity, recruitment of students and working in collaboration with practice partners.
- Ensure compliance with government standards for national accreditation
- Ensure that effective teaching methodologies are deployed in the college in order to create quality and innovative learning environment
- Engage in organizing the MSc program under the direction of the academic Dean and regulatory bodies.
- Carrying out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of examination work and providing an academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities.
- To design, adjust and improve the curriculum when required by the accreditation body, MOH or any audit or supervisory body
- To avail capacity building training for staff and contribute towards staff professional development
- Conducting lectures, tutorials, workshops, practical classes, demonstrations, field excursions, clinical sessions and other appropriate learning activities as required
- To maintain appropriate records and making available information as required by the academic commission of the college
- To support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
- To engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
- Any other related activities as required by the Dean of the College.

Job Requirements
Education:
- Ph.D. in Midwifery, reproductive health, or other related fields
Experience:
- 3 years and above in teaching and research in higher education
Skills and Abilities:
- Competency in curriculum development
- Competency in effective teaching and learning activities
- Competency in clinical skills
- Published works would be advantageous
- Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills
- Communication skill
- Leadership skill
