Job Description

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was established as a government-funded agency dedicated to granting aid programs in April 1991. KOICA endeavors to combat poverty and support the sustainable socio-economic growth of partner countries. By doing so, KOICA establishes and strengthens friendly ties with developing countries.

KOICA Ethiopia Office has been serving in Ethiopia since 1995 in supporting the development efforts of the government of Ethiopia by mobilizing the ODA allocated by the government of the Republic of Korea. It has set up a road map of supporting the implementation of Ethiopia's Growth and Transformation Plan II (GTP II) in short term and supporting the Ethiopian Government's development policy plans.

KOICA is currently looking for a highly motivated and competent professional for World Friends Korea Program Officer position:

The World Friends Korea Program Officer will be responsible for the overall management of activities of the WFK (World Friends Korea) volunteers (general volunteers, Advisors, experts, Doctors) of KOICA Ethiopia Office.

Major Duties:

  • Manages and coordinates the dispatch and settlement of KOICA volunteers
  • Prepares orientation materials for new volunteers including handbooks, programs, kits. creates and distributes information regarding volunteer policies and procedures
  • Develops volunteer’s performance; local language proficiency, result, etc. through training
  • Monitors and supports volunteer activity and the host organization's feedback. supports volunteer's project (project agreements, progress, ceremony, etc., maintains a database of volunteers and projects, tracks metrics
  • Manage contract status of dispatched volunteers, conducts volunteer annual evaluation meetings, business trips, support other related events
  • Closely monitors the safety of volunteers and liaise closely with security officer by sharing relevant information
  • Develops and provides monthly and annual reports on Individual and group volunteer activities
  • Strives to strengthen and maintain a positive relationship with stakeholders and partner organizations
  • Cultivates a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognizing volunteer efforts and assisting volunteers with their endeavors
  • Supports volunteer's administrative issues (visa, letter, medical checkup, etc.) and others as requested
  • Promotes the organization, its volunteer efforts, its accomplishments internally and externally
  • Other related administrative affairs to be assigned additionally by KOICA Ethiopia office.

Duration of Contract for the position: Regular Basis (Contract extension by year depending on performance)

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BSc. Degree in any field/discipline from a recognized university
  • Minimum of five (5) years of working experience in related fields
  • Excellent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent documentation and filing skills (MS Office S/W)
  • Commitment to KOICA's Vision, Mission, Values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working experience in an International organization on positions where direct and close interaction with volunteers or bilateral donor agency is administered
  • A Good understanding of IT-related appliances and utilities (Computer, printer, copying machine, etc.) 
  • A Good understanding of Korea and Korean working culture is desired
  • Working experience in a diverse cultural environment
