Under the supervision of IT Manager, the Sr. IT Expert analyses the existing IT work process, work flow and procedural manuals. He/she prepares IT guidelines for end-users; monitors the applied computer systems; conducts assessment study on the information requirements and the options for in house software development or purchase of commercial of shelf packages. Also he/she evaluates technical efficiency of hardware during acquisition; assists in the modification and applications of the acquired and customized software programs; and helps users in solving system problems.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops and maintains website application and database specifications in consultation with the IT Manager;
• Prepare advertisement designs and layout for trade-directory and other publications;
• Administers the existing software systems, data base, website and networking efficiently, and identifies and recommends recovery actions in case of failure and trouble;
• Carries out in- house application system development and implementation activities that include analyzing and designing application systems/sub –systems;
• Assists end users on work programs priority setting and solutions for recurrent problems;
• Creates data – base and writes application code using programming language;
• Investigates code and documentation reviews on the performance of applied systems and advises on customization/improvisation;
• Prepares training materials and reference manuals for end – users;
• Trains technical staff and end – users so as to familiarize them with new sub systems and technical systems;
• Consolidates data of different work units and maintains organization level data;
• Prepares or participates in the preparation of specifications for the purchase of hardware and computer accessories as well as testing same;
• Follows up and participates in the preparation of specifications for the purchase of hardware and computer accessories as well as testing same;
• Advises users on data structures and terminology;
• Assesses data flows and system definitions to determine information needs of different work units;
• Advises other work units implementing new technology systems.
• Monitors local area or wider range network system for smooth working environment;
• Coordinates systems, updates & replacement of old versions;
• Maintains backup, archive backups, restore backup, sufficient copies of system software, application software and operational data;
• Establishes security system and reports security incidents;
• Couches other IT staff members;
• Performs other related activities when the need arises;
• Responsible for administering the information security functions within Chamber;
• Responsible for computer systems, servers, networking and data management;
• The person charged with monitoring and implementing security controls and procedures for a system;
• Responsible for the effective operation and maintenance of Information resource, including implementation of standard procedures and controls, to enforce and organization’s security policy.

Job Requirement

EDUCATION/TRAINING

• MSc or BSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 4/6 years of relevant experience.

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

• LAN administration experience;
• Proficiency in computer applications;
• Excellent spoken and written English;
• Able to work in a team environment.
