About TLMI-E

The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is a leading international Christian Organization with over 147 years of experience, active in over 30 countries, working towards the vision of “Leprosy Defeated, Lives Transformed.”

In Ethiopia, TLM-Ethiopia is involved in leprosy, disability and socio-economic related activities. TLM seeks to empower Persons affected by Leprosy and Persons with Disabilities in Ethiopians to increase their capacity and dignity.

Program Overview

‘We are able!’ program focuses on empowerment, amplifying voices and creating resilience in women and men with disabilities, and of other marginalized groups. The focus is mainly on food security in areas of long-term continuing crisis, aiming to strengthen the lobby and advocacy capacity of individuals whose voices are not heard. 

We are looking for a highly motivated project coordinator, who will coordinate TLMI Ethiopia’s We Are Able Program as well as provide general support to our project partners. This position will be based in Addis Ababa at the Country Office with frequent field travel and secondment to one of our partners. The incumbent will also closely work with other consortium partner organizations in Ethiopia. Employment is for a one-year contract; possible extension upon performance and program grant.

Purpose

The overall responsibility of the project coordinator is to coordinate and manage the performance of implementing partners in WAA different implementation areas/woredas against the objectives of the We are Able project. Besides, he/she is also responsible to ensure that smooth coordination and collaboration is maintained with other consortium partners for the multiple efforts expected to deliver in the project areas. He/she is also responsible to manage the coordination and collaboration works with local government, institutions, associations on PWD and other different stakeholders in the intervention areas.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES:

Project Management

  • Ensure that the Detail Implementation Plan (DIP) is prepared and implemented accordingly in the project areas.
  • Ensure that budget breakdown for each project activities is done and implemented accordingly by implementing partners; compiled documents exist in the office for follow up on implementation.
  • Conduct project monitoring visits to the project sites and provide technical supports to implementing partners
  • Ensure that partners have prepared their weekly and monthly work plan and follow-up made accordingly.
  • Participate in the coordination meeting, review meetings that will be conducted as a TLMI-E and consortium at regional and office level.
  • Ensure that the partners operation is smooth in working with all consortium partners
  • Different workshops/forums and reviewing meetings among different stakeholders and partners are well facilitated, managed and reported.
  • Assess the situation of targeted people with disability and persons affected by leprosy regarding how they have been impacted by the project for documentation and further improvements on implementation
  • Produce different tools, guidelines as required to support different project activities for quality delivery.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Admin personnel for different payments to effect for different project activities at site; and intime release of budget for partners
  • Ensure Budget management has been done periodically (Planning, implementation, revision & reporting)
  • Hold and ensure smooth implementation of project activities in WAA implementation areas with close collaboration of project facilitators from each woreda.
  • Design new and/or implement existing strategies to strengthen DPOs, CSOs so as to provide disability inclusive programing. Make regular follow-up and document positive results brought on DPOs
  • While seconded to one of TLMI-E partners, ensure each activity of the project (program and finance) is implemented in line with its plan with good quality and follow-up
  • Lead and participate on new initiatives of designing disability inclusive related programs
  • Undertake such other tasks as may be assigned by the Program Manager and the Country Representative.

 Reporting/Documentation

  • Produce periodical reports of the project (monthly, quarterly and annually) and ensure its timely submission as per the deadlines
  • Review and compile reports from partners
  • Ensure different minutes/proceedings on different workshops/trainings and meetings are well documented in the office at all levels
  • Collect, document and disseminate examples of good practice and lessons learned on Audio/video documentary materials in order to raise awareness on disability inclusion
  • Conduct field visits to provide technical supports to partners
  • Facilitate and participate in a joint monitoring programs with other consortium partners

 Coordination with partners

  • Create smooth relationship with other partner staff for further program integration and collaboration
  • Work together with partner staff to have review meetings, planning and exchange of expertise on the project implementation
  • Provide technical support to consortium partner staff as required on field of specialization to support on quality program deliveries

Job Requirements

Education/qualification:

  • BA or Master’s degree in Agriculture, development studies, social science fields; social work, sociology, social psychology, social anthropology, social science, project management, etc

 Experience:      

  • Five years’ experience for BA holders and 3 years’ experience for MA holders
  • Proven experience working on disability inclusion programs and working with persons with disabilities with similar/related position
  • Experience working on consortium projects is advantageous
  • Experience on project management and related assignments
  • Good understanding on food security, and on disability-inclusive policies and programs; advocacy

 Required skills

  • Basic Computer skills
  • Fluency in English & Amharic languages (speaking and writing,) ability on other local language (Afaan Oromoo) is advantageous
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrable analytical skills to acquire information, analyze data and draw conclusions,
