Dan Church Aid (DCA) is a Danish Humanitarian and Development organization working to assist and empower people affected by poverty and disasters to live a life in dignity. In Ethiopia, DCA’s area of works include Humanitarian response, Food security, Resilience building of vulnerable community members and Gender and capacity building of civil society organizations.
DanChurchAid (DCA) office in Ethiopia wants to recruit a Driver for its Bale Field Office in Robe.
Under the supervision of DCA Bale Field Office Representative, the Driver will be responsible for handling driving and general service duties.
Main responsibilities of the position holder:
- Provide transport services according to the required activities and needs;
- Ensure the vehicle is maintained and in good working condition and that timely service of the vehicles are carried out;
- Keep an updated vehicle log-book;
- Report to DCA Country office whenever incidences are happened on vehicle and/or passengers;
- Check security situation and road conditions before departure;
- Immediately report to DCA and/or insurance company or agent any accident or damage to the vehicle as deemed necessary;
- Ensure the neatness and safety of the vehicle;
- Ensure that the correct loading and unloading of the vehicle is followed;
- Ensure the required tools and materials are requested and available for use;
- Provide any related services assigned by the supervisor
Type of Contract: One year with the possibility of extension
Reporting to: Bale field office representative
Expected Start Date: As soon as possible
Job Requirements
Minimum required qualifications:
- Secondary school graduate
- Valid 3rd Grade driving license (old curriculum) or Public 2 driving license (new curriculum).
- Five years driving experience (4x4) including remote areas especially in lowland Bale.
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience travelling to hardship areas with longer stay.
- Good command of verbal English and ability to write short report
- Excellent interpersonal skills to promote effective collaboration within DCA team and across member and partner organizations.
- Strong personal integrity and commitment to accountability.
- Proven record of accident-free driving is a plus.
- Knowledge of Afan Oromo language is mandatory
- NGO Experience;
Desirable
- Training in Auto mechanics;
- NGO experience;
- Ability to work in Multi-cultural environment;
