Who we are

 SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

 Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

SOS Children's Village Program Hawassa has been implementing the first and second phase of EDUCARE project under Family Strengthening Projectdara in sidama Region Dara and Dara otilicho woreda in four Kebeles . During the course of project implementation the major focus areas are building the capacity of community-based partners to provide community-driven responses that benefited 1500 vulnerable children and their 500 families in three years’ time and many more vulnerable children in the long-term. 

Why we need you?

We are looking for an experienced publication firm that can develop a documentary magazine that will focus on SOS Children Village Program Hawassa, EDUCARE II experience, good practices and lessons learned. The development and production of the magazine is intended to incorporate all the relevant stakeholders input and be the result of a collective contribution.

Objective of the Consultancy

To produce high quality Magazine depicting the successes and achievements out of the project implementation for the purpose of organizational memory and lesson learnt. 

Scope

 The consultant is required in Production of Magazine

•  The design of the documentary magazine will be done in a manner reflective of the overall spirit, brand and objectives of SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia
• Reader friendly contents and standardized format with graphic, artistic and professional quality
• The magazine should capture the overall performance of the project
• Content should capture best practice cases and success stories will be selected

 The consultant is required in capturing photographs and cover design

• The pictures will be made to depict real people engaged in actual activities and situations which are reflective of the local reality
• The pictures need to maintain highest standards and professionalism
• Contents of the magazine should incorporate all relevant stakeholders including community based organizations, saving and credit association, families and children. 

Job Requirements

Eligibility and Qualification 

Education and experience

• The production team should possess higher qualifications (MA, BA) plus 5 years relevant experience in the fields of communications, Public Relations, languages & literature and journalism, photography and cinematography
• Experience in international and local media agencies such as the Ethiopian Television and Radio Agency, local FM stations and prominent newspapers in the capacity of program managers, producers and editors.
• The team may be drawn from a group of media, communications and professionals who have experience and expertise in the areas of child, family and community development.
• Experience in the development and production of high quality magazines is an asset.

Technical requirements

• A brief history/ profile of the firm and the firm general experience in the field of the assignment
• Methodology to be used in accomplishment of the work. Should be as detailed as possible
• Detailed timeline/Schedule 
• Key personnel as proposed by the bidder and their specific roles in the assignment
• The physical input (e.g. equipment), which would be used by the bidder to undertake the  Magazine development
• The selected approach and time schedule with special consideration of team assignment
• Name, qualification and experience of the professionals who would be deployed to do the assignment

NB. The consultant(s) will be responsible for making their own travel arrangements and covering other logistical matters.

All qualified & competent consultants wishing to apply are required to collect the bid document/ TOR from SOS Children's Villages Ethiopia, Program Hawassa or at the National Office in Addis Ababa starting from May 25/2021- June 10/2021 within working days from 8:00 AM-5:00PM. All bids should be submitted with Technical and financial proposal based on the TOR separately on or before June 15/2021 until 5:00PM.
