HELVETAS Ethiopia is presently looking for motivated and competent professionals for the Woreda coordinator for a project entitled “Semien Gondor Resilience Project (SEGORP)” in Amhara Regional State.
Description
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation (HELVETAS), Concern Worldwide (CWW) and local government of the North Gondor Zone, have formed a strategic partnership bringing together complementary competencies to address the complex nature of poverty in the zone. The overall aim of the project is to strengthen household and community resilience to climate change. This will be achieved through system level change across the following 4 main outcomes: Improved management of natural resources; Improved household income and market access within and across livelihood zones; Strengthened systems for an improved human condition; & Strengthened institutions for improved governance and accountability.
Job Description
The purpose of the position is to provide effective and professional coordination role for the North Gondar Resilience project implemented by CWW & HIC and where HIC is the consortium lead.
Main duties & Responsibilities:
Coordination and networking
- Coordinate the Resilience project at Woreda Level as per the project proposal and budget secured/allocated as well as guidance provided by the Senior Project Manager and in close collaboration with Project Officers and relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure the proper and timely utilization of the allocated project budget
- Contribute to budget preparation and revision as necessary
- Assist the project team and Project Officers and Senior project Manager to develop weekly and monthly objectives and work-plan for the project at Woreda level and ensure that all planned activities are met.
- Coordinate and insure that reports from project officers are received timely, compiled, analyzed and submitted.
- Monitor staffing needs and ensure the recruitment of local staff on timely manner
- Ensure the project logistics at Woreda level is fulfilled and coordinate such resources effectively
- Update the Senior Project Manager about security issues on regular basis
- Ensure good collaboration and participation of government and other relevant partners
- Liaise with relevant national and international NGOs operating in the area and government bodies to ensure information sharing and coordination, in all aspects of the project and as guided and supported by the Senior Project Manager.
Technical Support and Facilitation
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and project end reports to.
- In coordination with Project Officers , Support staff development through coaching and mentoring to enhance the capacity of project and partner staff
- Prepare periodic review meeting with Project Officers and other on the ground based staff and Government stakeholders
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Plan and implement project monitoring and evaluation activities
- Develop different monitoring tools based on the activities
- Working with the M & E officer to ensure that Monitoring & Evaluation plans are very well coordinated & implemented with the involvement of relevant stakeholders
- Ensuring that all project partners have a clear understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation requirements and incorporate them in the project implementation
- Plan and implement project monitoring and evaluation activities
- Develop different monitoring tools based on the activities
Planning, Reporting and Accountability
- Contribute to the preparation of internal and external reports
- Prepare Bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly report and submit on timely manner to the Senior project manager.
- Ensure that program participants and stakeholders have clear information about the program activities as appropriate and relevant to them.
- Make sure all the policies and guidelines of the organization are adhered and respected by project staff.
- Make sure that mainstreaming gender, protection, accountability, HIV/AIDS, and equality throughout the implementation of project period.

Additional Duties
- Perform other duties assigned by the line manager for the accomplishment of program objectives.
Gender Equity
- Ensure that program/project staffs have a strong understanding of gender mainstreaming and that gender mainstreaming tools are effectively implemented across all programs/projects
- Coordinate with the Gender Equality Coordinator in planning, allocating and implementing a program budget for gender mainstreaming
- Ensure that programs have a thorough gender mainstreaming design and plan from the conceptualization stage
- Ensure that gender mainstreaming is effectively implemented and monitored throughout the project cycle management process.
- Ensure that gender sensitive indicators and M & E plans are in place and that they are effectively monitored
- Ensure quality reporting on gender mainstreaming in all program reports
Job Requirements
- Bachelor' Degree in a relevant field and;
- Relevant experience in Coordination and leadership involving multiple stakeholders
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Management experience in wider development projects
- Experience of managing multi-sectoral teams
- Financial Management skills and some experience in donor compliances
- Good analytical, monitoring and evaluation skills
- Experience in one or more of the following is very important: Livelihood; Health and Nutrition; NRM; and Governance.
- Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive
- Fluent spoken & written English and local languages
- Good administrative skills
- Computer Literate
- Self-starter and motivator
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
Competencies:
Knowledge of participatory approaches
- Excellent ability to write good quality reports and proposals in English.
- Able to work in teams/ isolated situation and stressful environments and under pressure meeting deadlines.
- Ability to plan own work, set priorities, complete work under pressure or when faced with competing demands and report
Analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer proficiency
Terms and conditions for the positions:
- Contract duration: from June 20201 to February 2023
- Duty Station: Telemet and Janamora woredas, with frequent travel to project kebeles/watersheds
- Salary & Benefits: As per the salary scale of the position and benefit packages for national staff (NPR 2018)
