The Nutrition Monitoring and Survey Officer will contribute to conducting and monitoring nutrition assessments in emergencies and development programs. S/he will assist and support conducting various surveys including SMART & SQUEAC nutrition assessments, baseline/ midterm/ end line and other assessment. S/he will support the nutrition survey specialist through supporting project filed staff in developing database, in producing quality report, documentation and knowledge management across the range of contexts in which Concern Ethiopia works. S/He will oversee the quality of nutrition and surveys with the guidance from Nutrition Monitoring and Survey Specialist and in collaboration with the MEAL units.
Main duties & Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Quality Assurance
- Support data collection of different surveys including SMART, SQUEAC, barrier analysis, rapid nutrition assessments, baseline/midterm/Edline and any other assessment
- S/he be able to implement assessments with remote support from the specialist. Ensuring data quality, using DDG formats, data analysis and drafting reports.
- S/he support the specialist in developing assessment TOR, support logistic arrangement for the assessment training including vehicles, training materials and organize assessment equipment’s and take care of the anthropometric equipment and DDG tablets
- Support training for enumerators and completed training report detailing survey teams compositions and results of the pre- and post- training results.
- Support facilitate financial payment for enumerators and governmental partners participant assessment
- Support the survey team on the standardization test and daily plausibility reports.
- Assist the survey team in selected villages mapping document for the data collection
- Share necessary and support numerators guide document detailing operational definition of terms, special cases and standardized data collection procedure
- Support survey quality control guide document developed
Monitoring, Evaluation, Assessment, Learning & Reporting
- H/she will review the monthly reports, crosscheck CMAM databases with Activity Trackers and PTK and provide monthly feedback to line manager and field teams on the reports.
- Ensure that the appropriate nutrition monitoring tools (PTK, APR, data base etc.) are in place and link to a central database for all admission and outcome data (emergency and development projects )
- Maintain a central database of all project nutrition data (emergency and development) including CMAM admission and outcome data, program coverage, gender breakdown and conduct regular trend analysis over time and per geographical area
- Ensure Concern’s nutrition survey related reports are technically sound
- Support and participate on learning reviews for end of project/midterm nutrition projects
Capacity Building & Mentorship
- H/she will provide orientation and training of nutrition staff on survey methodology, data collection, implementation and interpretation
- Conduct regular technical visits (supportive supervision) to support effective implementation, monitoring, evaluation and documentation of ongoing nutrition projects
- Build coaching techniques and problem solving to address identified systems barriers
Representation & Networking
- In the absence of specialist h/she will represent Concern at selected task force and technical meetings at Federal and regional level e.g. nutrition cluster, NIWG, ENCU and other technical working group, assessment/survey/ quality assurance sub groups
- Support and maintain relationships with other agencies, including research organizations and donors and represent Concern in national, regional forums as relevant
- Build relationships with other actors involved in emergency nutrition and surveys as required

Job Requirements
Person specification: Essential:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Nutrition (Masters an advantage)
- At least 3 years’ work experience in managing nutrition emergency and/or development nutrition projects
- Experience of conducting and analyzing different nutrition assessments like coverage (SOUEAC) or SMART surveys
- Received nutrition assessment training such as SMART, SQUEAC and other related
- Experience on the Nutrition assessment data collection, supervising and data analysis
- Good understanding of capacity building approaches
- Good skill on report writing and timely submission
- Strong verbal and written skills in English
- Experience in working with team and governments
- Strong analytical and communication skill
- Proven skills in data analysis and statistics
- Previous proven experience participate and conducting SMART Surveys and knowledge of the ENA Software (version January 2020)
- Strong command of the English and Amharic language
- Ability to train, guide and supervise a data collection team
- Ability to work independently
- Good understanding of capacity building approaches
- Good skill on report writing and timely submission
- Strong verbal and written skills in English
