Basic Function of Position:

Incumbent oversees the day-to-day management, administrative, and program coordination in support of a broad range of agency-funded HIV/AIDS, Global Health Security, and Immunization program activities that are implemented by specific program offices, branches or programmatic teams. This is done through direct supervision and management oversight of a team of administrative specialist staff. The work portfolio includes administrative support, program support, training development, human resources, procurement, information management, and logistics. Incumbent is supervised by the Deputy Director. Position directly supervises 4 employees; and indirectly supervises an additional 14 positions.

SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): Position Grade: FSN-11, –  22,927.00 USD per year.

 Not Ordinarily Resident: FP-04

*Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.

Duration of Appointment: Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period 

NOTE:  For ordinarily resident employees, salary will be paid in local currency using the established exchange rate.

Job Requirements

Required Education: 

  • Master’s degree or host country equivalent in public administration, business administration, management, finance, or public health is required.

Required Experience:  

  • This position requires a total of seven years of experience. Specifically: a) five years of demonstrated progressively responsible administrative management experience; and b) an additional two years of experience at the managerial level that includes direct supervision of staff

Language Requirement

  • Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing of English is required.
  • Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing of Amharic is required.

(You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).

Skills and abilities: 

Ability to assess problems and develop realistic solutions (how to plan for and administer available resources of funds, personnel and equipment in the best interest of CDC Country Platform program objectives) is required. Excellent inter-personal skills in order to coordinate with USG and implementing/cooperating partners to ensure mutual cooperation are required. Ability to plan budget expenditures to meet platform needs is required. Proficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Shortlisted candidates selected for interview will be required to give a short, 10-slide presentation on a recent operations or management-related challenge thy experienced (what was the issue, how was the issue assessed, how was it addressed, what was outcome, and what were lessons learned)

and be prepared for follow-on questions in discussion, afterwards. Presentations should be emailed, in advance, to CDC – HR.
