 Job Description:

The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) strives to address nutrition and health-related problems by conducting various operational research and generate evidence for policy-making and effective implementation of the health and nutrition programs in Ethiopia. A national Food and Nutrition Strategy has been endorsed and released. To this end, the Food Sciences and Nutrition Research Directorate is planning to conduct a National Food and Nutrition survey which will serve as a baseline for the implementation of the Food and Nutrition Strategy.

 Responsibilities:

The data collectors/Supervisors will have the following responsibilities and requirements.

  1. Data collectors are responsible for the delimitation of gotes, household listing, and entire data collection.
  2. Each data collection team will list all eligible households in the selected gotes.
  3. .Each data collection team will visit the randomly selected households from the list of eligible households.
  4. Identify the eligible household members.
  5. Read the consent form and obtain informed consent from the selected respondents.
  6. The interviewer should interview the mother/caregiver of all selected children in the household and accurately record their responses.
  7. Review each questionnaire on the tablet prior to leaving the survey respondents house and make sure all questions are answered correctly.
  8. Follow up with selected mothers/caregivers/children who not present during the initial interview to ensure all the required information is completed.
  9. Measure, height, weight and MUAC of mother and children.
  10. Collect blood, stool and salt sample from selected households
  11. Test anemia and malaria status of selected household member
  12. Conduct 24 hr recall assessment in the selected household.
  13. Additional activities could be given by project coordinator

Job Requirements

  • BSc in nutrition, nursing, public health or MD, laboratory technology with 0-year experience. For public health, nursing, MD, phlebotomist, and medical laboratory technology applicants experience with in the clinical setting is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of mobile data collection methods like ODK Collect is a plus.
  • Local language is advantageous.
