Job Description

  • Respect the dignity of beneficiaries, caretakers and members of the community at all times.
  • Responsible for the day to day coordination and management of outreach workers, crowd controllers, community mobilizers and food disturbers at field level
  • Prepare distribution plans, request distribution dispatches and follow up proper storage at FDC level until the distribution.
  • Facilitate screening, verify and compile screening data.
  • Compile data and information and accordingly report the progress to the senior project officer
  • Identify and refer children from the distribution sites to OTP or SC sites
  • Record, monitoring status data such as weight gains and feeding of children in the program
  • Fostering good relationships with community, community elders, community leaders and other health personnel to encourage good information sharing
  • Refer sever children who are under the SFP program to the OTP when necessary
  • In coordination with community outreach workers and food distributors, provide education to the community members on nutrition and health related issues
  • Involve in nutrition surveys as well as in other concern task when necessary
  • Record and keep admission, discharge and death data to be submitted every two weeks
  • Make sure that all equipment and materials kept clean and safe
  • Collect, compile and share weekly and monthly distribution reports to the TSFP/BSFP Coordinator.

Job Requirements

  • BSc degree in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition and related health field of study preferred from accredited universities or health colleges

Certificates on:

  •  Acute malnutrition 2019 revised guideline training
  • Revised 2019 IMAM guideline training
  • Other: Fluency in written and spoken English and Tigrigna languages

Working Environment / Conditions:

  1. Minimum three years working experience with NGOs in TSFP/BSFP program
  2. Experience in BSFP/TSFP , Food Aid programs or community based nutrition intervention preferably in emergency context
  3. Knowledge of latest developments in nutrition and food security
  4. Knowledge and practical experience of the national/international Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) protocols and BSFP Programming is an advantage
  5. Experience in facilitating trainings and workshops

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge, training and experience in management of TSFP/BSFP and SAM management
  • Demonstrated skills in TSFP/BSFP and CMAM program planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good human relation skills.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions;
  • Strong adherence to World Vision values;
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity and integrity;
  • Prepared to live and work in an remote and uncertain security environment
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Tigrigna 
  • Knowledge, training and experience in management of IYCF, TSFP and SAM with/without medical complication
  • Demonstrated skills in CMAM program planning, implementation and monitoring.

  • Patience, good relations with other people, good capacity to work in a team, capacity to manage priorities, precision, capacity to share knowledge and train colleagues, knowing the local language; willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills are needed
  • A mature Christian, who's willing to serve in very difficult conditions
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated skills in Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours.
