Job Description

  • Protect, promote and support Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program in the health system, including health facilities with due emphasis on enhancing the availability and integration of IYCF counselling services.
  • Assist health facilities in the establishment and utilization of Breast Feeding Spaces (BFSs) for a holistic IYCF and psychosocial support to pregnant, lactating women and their children who are facing emergency situations.
  • Support communities and health posts in demonstration of practical food cooking sessions
  • Supporting community mobilization and sensitization activities on CMAM and IYCF programs through establishment and strengthening of IYCF services
  • Establish/strengthen MtMSGs and FtFSGs to promote and support CMAM and IYCF health promotion and education activities, facilitate active detection and early referral of acute malnutrition of cases to health facilities etc.
  • Monitor the hygiene in the distribution area, to ensure hygiene in the warehouse, storage and distribution are properly maintained, ensure before leaving the SFP place that the wastes are properly collected, participate to the maintenance and the cleaning of the SFP site  
  • Implement and Provide technical support for TSFP/BSFP (food distribution), Site preparation (IDPs), and mobilization of community, and nutritional screening for both host & IDPs
  • Ensure Job aids are available in Health posts (HEW quick reference, Look up table, report format, tally sheet, Plump nut and drug stock control balance form)
  • Ensure the integration of IYCF to CMAM programming through strengthening of psychosocial & emotional sites & IYCF promotion & counseling;
  • Ensure the quality of BSFP and TSFP data generated at Health facility and community level and submit regularly to project coordinator and updates any issues 

Job Requirements

  • BSc degree in Public Health, Clinical Nursing, Nutrition and related health field of study preferred from accredited universities or health colleges

Certificates on:

  • Acute malnutrition 2019 revised guideline training
  • Revised 2019 IMAM guideline training
  • IYCF Training
  • Minimum three years working experience with NGOs in CMAM program, specific to IYCF;
  • Knowledge, training and experience in management of IYCF and SAM management
  • Demonstrated skills in IYCF and CMAM program planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good human relation skills.
  • Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions;
  • Strong adherence to World Vision values;
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity and integrity;
  • Prepared to live and work in an remote and uncertain security environment
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Tigrigna
